I have the same question, as I didn't know that word before, and the translation to spanish doesn't sound good......

Yeah, glad I wasn't the only curious one on that. LOL! Impudence is generally not considered a good thing here... Maybe if you are "The White Stripes," "The Red Hot Chili Peppers," "Danzig" or "Rammstein," you may want your audience to be impudent but I can't imagine John would. Then again, I wonder how John would respond if we had a mosh pit at his nex gig. I wonder if he would crowd surf to "I Leave on Frday!" Hahahah! I'm now picturing him pulling an Eddie Vedder balcony jump... Minute 4:10: CLASSIC! www.youtube.com/watch?v=9SPMfr38fCANow this crowd looks pretty impudent!

Beautiful Pics and videos, gals! I can't stop watching these videos! Thanks for sharing, girls! www.awal.com/blog/live-review-john-garrison-londons-water-ratsThis is a great review, John! Congratulations! I have one question though. Am I the only one who wondered which of you gals the reviewer thought were being impudent??? I know jade is naughty but I can't imagine her as having an impudent face. Lucy??? Loraline? Were y'all being impudent? Maybe the Brits use the word in a different way that I don't know about? This is what I thought it meant: im-pu-dent /ˈɪmpyədənt/ [im-pyuh-duhnt] –adjective 1. of, pertaining to, or characterized by impertinence or effrontery: The student was kept late for impudent behavior. 2. Obsolete. shameless or brazenly immodest. Maybe it was Karl, Beardy and Malcolm being impertinent and brazenly immodest? ? Not you gals??? ;D ROFL!!! Yes, Missy and Lucy, I was wondering about the 'impudent' thing as well. In my dictionary it says "Rude and not respectful" . I don't recall any of us being rude or something. I mean, none of us (and that includes Karl, Paul and Malcolm) were screaming like mad or throwing knickers at John, no breast signing, either . If I or my face came across as impudent in any way, I can only apologize. Problem solved next time I suppose... due to face masks... Anyhoo, I can live with the impudent bit, since the review as a whole was such a great and glowing one. That is what really matters! It's nice to see a critic who, for a change, actually listened to the lyrics, also great that the songs have been so well received (and rightly so!). I couldn't agree more!! She's got that pretty spot on!! It's exactly that! SOOOO TRUE!! It IS a BEAUTIFUL record, hauntingly honest, just a riveting set of songs that share a passion missing in many of today's releases. I truly hope Departures will gain the overall recognition it deserves among music lovers all around the world. Actually I'm sure of it! PS: Missy, I can't view the video in my country, due to copyright restrictions.

LOL, Jade! I'm glad to know you (and the boys too) were not being impudent! ROFL! I can't imagine any of you gals as the throwing your "knickers" type! LOL! All teasing aside, I agree, Jade, I can live with the impudence bit too because it is refreshing to finally read a lovely review of John's work. It is a great review and enjoyeble to read! ME TOO, Jade! PS: Missy, I can't view the video in my country, due to copyright restrictions. AW! Sorry you can't see it, Jade! I'm sure you've seen it before, though. It's Pearl Jam live in 1991 performing "Even flow" with the famous clip of Eddie climbing on the balcony and diving backwards in the crowd.

OK, I can't stop watching all of the lovely videos of the release paty! ;D ;D ;D By the way, did y'all notice all of the dust particles in the air at Water Rats??? You can really see them on Loraline's "Rendezvous" vid! Maybe they need to get one of those air purifiers from those infomercials that come on TV at 4am! ROFLOL!!!! ;D www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACNRWdFWVTQ

Is that us at the next Garrison gig, doing the happy dance in the front row??? ;D Those smileys are cracking me up, Missy, and I've just noticed that they're called 'PeanutButterSmileytime'... fitting somehow... ;D Aren't girls the SOLE reason that guys pick up guitars? ? ;D You might have a point here, Missy. Unlike the 'scary men whooping in front of ATM's' approach, I believe the guitar approach never failed to work on women in the history of mankind. If there is a surefire way to make the girls swoon, then this one. In combination with a gorgeous voice, good looks and the ability to play some serenade on the piano every now and then... don't get me started... By the way, did y'all notice all of the dust particles in the air at Water Rats??? You can really see them on Loraline's "Rendezvous" vid! Yes, I've noticed this too, Missy. That must have been John's incredible voice that grabbed every molecule of air in the space at the Water Rats and made it look like this. Not sure if the air purifier would be the right choice in this case. As for Rendezvous, I must admit I was having a bit of an on/off relationship with this song over the past months. I didn't like it to begin with and it took me quite some time to 'wrestle' my resentment to the ground. At some point it did 'click' and now that I have the record, I find myself humming it all day long. Although I really love the album track and its weird sounds, I got even more a kick out of hearing it performed live - 3:04-3:17 unbelievable, GREAT performance of this song!!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5xzYF8O2mQOne last thing (as this post got already sooo long again) I noticed only today that this board did play its usual tricks on me and my posting dated Nov,24th. Can't possibly leave it that way! So, the quoted statement came out wrong - and since 'sh!t' always gets replaced with 'cosmos' here, it took on a whole new meaning, LOL. To put that straight, the songs were neither sounding like sh!t nor like cosmos, they were sounding like something entirely new and original, sounding just like Departures!

Maybe it's us doing the California raisin dance! Hahah! "I heard it through the Grapevine" LOL! Those little smileys do look like peanut m&ms, don't they? LOL at "Beanutbutter Smiley Time." Is that fitting because we are nutty, Jade? ROFL! I can't take credit for Lucy's cute, little, peanutbutter, smiley men, only that I strung them together like a line of Rockettes! LOL! You might have a point here, Missy. Oh so true... Guitars work every time!!! Whooping, not so much!!Good thing this board is full of women, wouldn't want to give away any secrets to any boys... Gotta keep 'em guessin'! LOL! Hey, Don't get me started either, Jade! ;D What a voice is all I have to say! ;D Yes, I've noticed this too, Missy. That must have been John's incredible voice that grabbed every molecule of air in the space at the Water Rats and made it look like this. Not sure if the air purifier would be the right choice in this case. LOL! It makes for a cool effect on the video but it certainly makes one wonder what one is breathing in sometimes! Every time I go to NYC or LA, I think I am breathing in a lifetime supply of car exhaust... As for Rendezvous, I must admit I was having a bit of an on/off relationship with this song over the past months. I didn't like it to begin with and it took me quite some time to 'wrestle' my resentment to the ground. I think there is almost always one song on pretty much any album that I have to come around to. For me, on Departures, I loved "Rendezvous" from the first moment I heard it but the only one that I had trouble coming around to was "Let's Run." I really can't pinpoint exactly why, though. It is quite grandiose sonically and lyrically while the others feel more raw and emotional to me. Perhaps I like the depressing ones to the optimistic ones... I don't know. It's funny, I probably would have had "I leave on Friday" as the first track and first single. Good thing I wasn't in charge, huh, John? It took me a few times of listening to the album in its entirety to get it. I was a little slow in coming around to "Let's Run" but I do love it now. I love it live best. I LOVE that "Rendezvous" video by Loraline! I ca't stop watching it! That's my favorite part too, Jade! ;D I also love the end where he couldn't get the reverb to stop. LOL! One last thing (as this post got already sooo long again) I noticed only today that this board did play its usual tricks on me and my posting dated Nov,24th. Can't possibly leave it that way! Those videos are GREAT! They sound new and original. They sound great and not like Departures. Gosh, I wish I had been there!

HMMM... I was just thinking, I guess it was a loop not reverb.... I don't know which would be the correct term... Anyone know? There was a guy at Rockwood who asked John about it between songs but I was busy dealing with cell phones and cameras, so I was only half-way paying attention to the random guy. I think I remember that John said something to the effect of, "I don't know how it actually works but it works for me." LOL! ;D

Interesting that you thought this, too. I recall a convo with the other boardies at the Water Rats in July, shortly after most of the tracks had appeared online on Facebook and MySpace, and we all were guessing that if any, then "I Leave On Friday" was going to be a single. Mainly because it's so extremely catchy and accessible and also happy enough to get airtime. With regard to the overall theme of the album and the lyrical content of "Let's Run", John's decision to go for this one as a single/video makes perfect sense to me now. And although I still prefer "ILOF" a little bit I think "Let's Run" is just as great, catchy and radiofriendly. I, too, am pretty much a sucker for the slow depressing songs on the album, but are there really optimistic ones, hmmm! Upbeat of course, but lyrically still with a bit of a miserable feel to them. It's all relative... I guess "Let's Run" feels more hopeful after you've been listening to "So Close" and "Cold Coffee" endlessly. LOL! Due to what he wrote on Facebook, it was a loop pedal... a naughty non stopping loop pedal... now, that's impudent!! ;D LOL! I haven't checked the Facebook in a while... The novelty is begining to wear off on Facebook and MySpace for me. LOL! ;D
