Hi John, So nice to hear from you again, thanks for starting the Tour Diary to keep us in the loop. To be able to read about your stateside adventure is definitely the second best thing to being there. Really bad timing on my part. Still can't believe I'll be at the Ronan Keating show instead of your's (now, where did I put my earphones...). Two weeks in London and even seeing Tom McRae there at the Scala cannot make up for missing your upcoming gigs. Was ALWAYS such a profoundly joyful experience to see you perform and that's why it is so hard to not be there, but hey, 6 out of 9 over the past months ain't bad. Just make sure you bring a pen to sign your Departures CD's, this time I won't be around to help you out . Again, thank you so much for the music. I'm still having your records in heavy rotation. Never get tired of listening to them- yet, to know you're working on new songs really made my day. Maybe a 3rd album sometime in the future would be fantastic... as we all know, crazy, stubborn ideas are usually the best. Safe travels and have a blast in old New York and then in Toronto and Montreal. Looking forward to reading your diary entries. From Berlin with love Jade xxxx

Hi John,
Just read you are back in Denmark after a good week in the studio with Blunty and the other boys from the band. I pretty much look forward to the new jams, but even more to seeing you perform YOUR gems in exactly one month from today in London.
Hope the Easter Bunny is treating you kind. Happy Easter and all the best to you and yours.
Always listening Jade xxx

Hi John,
THANXXX for yet another amazing show. It's always a pleasure to see you perform and, as ever, I had a fantastic time. Was nice as well to see the hugely talented Tom, the one for the weirdness. I think, same as you, he did a great job - the sound was definitely interesting and different from any other time, cool!!
Even though I missed my favourite "Cold Coffee", specifically your stunning "girly" high notes at the end, I still loved your set very much. "Rendezvous" was particularly brilliant (after all, there's an equally stunning part in there) and so was "2nd For The 1st Time". If I had to pick a highlight, though, it would have to be this night's "Is This The Best It Gets"... of course, it is the best it gets!!! WOW, what a voice, incredible. I've always had a soft spot for this song, but am really stuck on it since you posted the piano version on your website recently. Is it available for purchase somewhere, I so want to buy it???
Thanks also for taking the time after the show to hang with your boardies, chat and take some pictures. You won't believe but I was perilously close to actually asking you something, such as 'Did you get something underway musicallywise while Theafroshane was in Copenhagen?' (hopefully yes...), or 'Have you started your Primrose Hill Church recordings yet?' (hopefully yes...) or 'Are you annoyed at some of my postings?' (certainly yes...). I don't know what it is about you that takes over my brain completely and leaves me speechless somehow, very strange.
But then again, all I need to know is in your songs. Your music is the answer, the most satisfying of all... and I don't give a d@mn about the question!!!
Thanks for reading.
From Berlin with love Jade xxx

I'm glad to know I'm not the only speechless one around John. I know I feel like a spastic, 12-year-old girl when talking to him or rather just standing there speechless and staring like a statue. I too always forget all of the things that I want say and ask. LOL! I'm not sure what it is about him... Guess it's the Rock Star aura thing. Poor John! Good thing for Blunty that he hasn't had the misfortune to meet me... HEHEHEH!

Hey John, I hear you're Danish now ;D - Whatever nationality, hope you're having a lovely Father's day so far and that Viktor gave you many of his recently seen very cute smiles. Since I know you've had your very special Glastonbury moments on stage with Blunty and the band in 2008, but otherwise ain't that much into camping anymore plus you're a new parent now, I couldn't help but think of you when I read this: Danny Robins ( www.dannyrobins.co.uk/page3.htm ) comedian and writer imparts some useful festival advice. IT’S SUMMER AND THEY’RE EVERYWHERE. There’s no point trying to escape them. Am I talking mosquitoes? Wasps? Screaming five-year-olds with ice creams? No… festivals. As more and more new events pop up every year, the shocking statistic is that this summer, wherever you are in Europe, you will never be more than 6m from Florence and the Machine.
This is great if you’re a music fan who doesn’t mind camping and has no desire to wash or go to the toilet for several days, but how about if you don’t like festivals? What if you appreciate adequate sanitation? If you just fancy a nice quiet holiday? Well, you’re out of luck. Don’t even think about heading for the beach – Fatboy Slim will be there with 20,000 gurning clubbers. A nice quiet field? That’ll be where they stick the hard rock tent. A peaceful mountain village? Let’s build a stage and book the Kings of Leon and Dizzee Rascal.
And it’s not just music festivals either – all across Europe, from Finland to Malta, there are film festivals, book festivals, wine festivals, flower festivals, religious festivals, food-throwing festivals and even, weirdly, in Spain a “baby jumping festival” where men dressed like Elvis actually jump over babies. And yes, you did read that correctly.
I love the idea of festivals. I’m just not sure I’ve ever had a good time at one. My vision of abandoning all my cares and dancing naked under the moon draped only in garlands of daisies never quite works out that way. My defining festival memory will always be standing in the rain at Glastonbury trying to eat an overpriced (and by now quite wet) burger, fighting off a strong need to go to the toilet as my feet sank further and further into the sort of mud that would have pigs complaining about health and safety.
So, my advice before embarking on your holiday this summer, is do some festival research. If you’re the sort of person who doesn’t fancy spending your holiday next to dangerously full Portaloos, or crowds throwing tomatoes, check what’s going on in your chosen destination. Roskilde is lovely and quiet – except when it’s full of heavy metal bands. Spain is magical, except when strange men are hurdling infants.
If you’re a festival fan, you can ignore all this advice of course. Have a good time, don’t forget the sunglasses and aspirin. And if you’re a new parent, watch out for low-flying Spanish Elvises.
So, no 'hurdling infants' I hope, not even on Father's day! All the best to you and yours (your favourite red&white football team included...) Jade x
