looking like september. there's a lot more going into it than just getting CDs manufactured. Website redesign, art, generating buzz and press to promote gigs. book gigs a couple months out so they can be properly promoted etc. looking like september. definitely shows in London to launch disc and in US in nyc. No dates set for sure yet. Speaking of art... I'm curious about the artwork for the departures Sleeve will be like... Can you give us any hints?? Hmm... September... I was just thinking that it might be nicer if the dates get puched back to October... It's so much more pleasant in NYC when it's not so darn hot! Hint, hint, Wink! Of course John should put his schedule around boardies' opinions... LOL!!!

Got Dashboard Confessional's album "DUSK AND SUMMER" on Saturday and really like it (in particular 'Heaven Here' and the title track). Quite a long list of credits on the back of the booklet, nice to see your name in there. Still amazed, though, that one person would produce a song while the vocals would be produced by someone else. However, producing the songs for an album seems to involve a lot of work in order to make everything sound right. What does Assistant Engineer actually mean? Working on particular songs or tracks/pieces of audio or on the whole album? And did you get to meet Chris Carrabba when you were working on his record? Have you ever been recording at Avatar Studios? haven't seen any art myself. couple photos but nothing in layout form. no fonts etc... Let's hope the big blue questionmark won't stay. Have you heard the Master CD yet? And if so, how did it feel to hear the finished product of a project for which you were primarily responsible as a producer? Oh, and what I always wanted to ask: Why do you shorten your name - Matthew is such a beautiful name. Do you prefer the shortened version? ... so many questions, so little time. You can't possibly answer them all, right? Maybe just one or two... THANK YOU!

I know Chris pretty well. We stay in touch. I worked with him and Daniel Lanois on some of the Dusk and Summer sessions for just under 2 weeks but we all hit it off really well.
The finished album is actually very different than what I heard when I was involved with it. Went through different mixers and changes etc. Its still good, but there was some lanois magic in what I worked on before it was remixed by a couple folks.
Chris a stand up guy though. Super professional and a standup guy. Really sweet.
My mom still calls me Matthew. A lot of folks know me as Shane.
I have worked at Avatar before but only on Jazz sessions. I have yet to do any rock there, it's just too expensive and I rarely am involved with projects with those kind of budgets.

He's an amazing artist, unfortunately not as well known as he should be over here, even though there's this version of 'Stolen' featuring German band Juli on Dusk and Summer. It's a shame that not even the biggest music store in town had his CD's in stock. What I also like about this album is that all the gear it was performed with got mentioned in the credits, really interesting. And I think I see what you mean, too many people working on the same thing and too many changes do not necessarily lead to a better result. I have worked at Avatar before but only on Jazz sessions. I have yet to do any rock there, it's just too expensive and I rarely am involved with projects with those kind of budgets. I didn't know it was so expensive. Just noticed that parts of Dusk and Summer have been recorded there and I knew that it looked rather nice from the footage of John Mayer recording 'In Repair' at Avatar. My mom still calls me Matthew. A lot of folks know me as Shane. Kudos to your mom! A lot of folks know you as Shane? - I guess that includes all those that are, like me, fascinated by the shane magic in your mixes and impressed by the shane ability to perfectly meld song and artist onto record. Thank you for your reply, Matthew! Cheers, Jade xx

Interesting stuff, Afroshane. Working with Daniel Lanois... That's impressive! That's only one degree of separation from Bono... LOL!
So I'm putting my 2 cents in too... I prefer Matthew too! haha! Cheers! Missy XOXO

Mothers always use the full pronunciation of a name! It's the LAW!!! ;D

Isn't he like some kinda God of the Production world or something? Thanks girls for reminding me. And I claim to have read my U2 Encyclopedia properly. When I read the name Daniel Lanois in theafroshane's post I knew I had heard it more than once, but just didn't know where to put him. Now I 'googled' him and indeed, he's 'some kinda God of the production world'. There's a lot of great things on his list of achievements. Mothers always use the full pronunciation of a name! It's the LAW!!! ;D Aww, my mother doesn't and I always knew that this was against the law. She never calls me Jacqueline, but she's the only one that gets away with it! I just can't stand any short forms of my real name. he's one of the most revered and respected. definitely one of my heroes. was an amazing experience. [/size] Hey, you were faster than me. I was just about to ask what it was like to be working with Mister Lanois! Thanks for letting us know.

Nope.
Dunno when it's coming out.
Mistyped and deleted the post cuz I was half asleep.
John has recently secure a PR agency to do a PR campaign to build up the albums release but no clue what their schedule will be like. Graphic Designers are doing layouts for John, and the website and myspace etc will get a makeover I believe.

Thanks for always getting back to us, really means alot! Will just have to find myself some patience until the album is coming out and try not to upset you by asking countless questions. *sigh*
