I sent another request to the radio station here in Berlin that has already played some of his songs. Hopefully they'll play one between 7 - 8pm!! (that's 6 -7pm GMT) (http://www.fritz.de/loopstreams/livestream.html) edit: and I found an online blog of the same radio station five minutes ago... they spelled his name wrong, so I sent them a looong email...! ;D If they read it they won't forget it again.

LET'S KEEP "HASSLING" RADIO STATIONS!!!!
I know you're all great when it comes to getting John's music out there. So, if you have a minute or two, please also join in requesting songs from 'Above The Cosmos' on the following radio-stations. I do not know anything about their rules of selection, but some of them even encourage people to make a request. Maybe it works and they'll play something Garrison if we all requested it. If nothing else, they have heard the name and it helps to spread the word. Oh, and should these stations still refuse to play his songs, they will be really sorry once they realize that they're missing out on something absolutely brilliant. Well, their loss... Because I have a subscription to XM I have requested him on there but you can't do requests unless you are a member. They do have a few channels that play just independant music but no luck yet.

Because I have a subscription to XM I have requested him on there but you can't do requests unless you are a member. They do have a few channels that play just independant music but no luck yet. Oh well, that really is a problem and of course it's not quite so easy to get the requested songs played. Probably mainly because radio - at least terrestrial radio - kind of moved away from listener requests and opts to program by research. As far as I know, not least from the messages I got in return, many radio stations tend to make their choices based on a 'library' of music that they have established due to the taste of large groups of people who had been asked their opinion beforehand, mostly using music scheduling software afterwards. Anyway, as for new music, like the songs from 'Above the Cosmos', I believe some stations do have a different way to deal with it, and are hopefully not only checking trade magazines or listening to pitches by record promoters but also make a choice by relying on their positive feelings on how the artist will be received by listeners and if the song fits in the station's music format. I guess that's how it worked for our requests on the German radio station(s) and I hope it does work in the States as well. I think the stations mentioned above are kind of fitting as far as genre goes, so it's definitely worth a try.

oh dear my cat was just typing her brilliant idea how to get John's music out there but here is what I have to say:
We have a school radio which plays terrible music ("I kissed a girl" etc.) every Friday noon. Some years ago we were to request songs they could play. Well, it was some years ago but I might give it a try and ask a teacher/student who is involved in this radio thingy. I would be so happy to hear John's voice on a Friday afternoon rather than Katy Perry or someone else (they only have about 10 songs to play actually!).
