Have you ever googled yourself? ;D of course. All musicians and writers are craving praise and attention. I thought everyone knew that

"For those not there, here was my set" - still no word about your gig at the Leamington Assembly. PLEASE, don't let it be the first gig in ages without posting the set! It's your home town after all. Thank you!! Edit: You have sooo many really amazing songs. Do you like writing setlists for your gigs or do you find it hard to decide which songs to put on there and maybe even harder to decide which songs to leave out? I really can't remember the set and all the set lists were grabbed off the stage afterwards. Sorry Usually it just depends on which songs are sounding good at that time and how long the set is

Do you ever read the other threads in here? To be honest, no not really. I keep an eye on some of them as I like to see what all you crazy people are saying. But some of them I have to admit I skip. Nothing personal. I don't have a lot of time these days and you all write so much I can't keep up...!!!! But all the personal ones and the questions I read (obviously)

On twitter, July 20th: "chit chat twit thingy" What does that mean? Are you counting the seconds which separate us from the release of the album? It means nothing I was drunk

A recording is only capturing a moment in time. A song lives just like we do. We don't look the same everyday and we all get old and need to adjust accordingly I love the recording part. and then I love hearing the finished version back at the end Is there any song on any of your albums you wish it wasn't 'eternalized' that way on a record because it didn't come off exactly like it was intended or like you've 'heard it in your head'? Or maybe something in a song you would have loved to change but couldn't because the track/record was already finished? And if so, which song? (Sorry, don't really know how to put it ) Ta Ta for now (I hear that's considered slightly posh - Is that true?) J. xx PS: How about this: I'll do the washing up for you (gloves optional), so that you'll find the time to answer our questions? ;D All my albums are moments in time. How the songs is at THAT moment. If I think of a way to make it better, i will from that moment onwards. eg, Look You In The Eye from Budapest is infinitally better live as I came up with a different end section and we played that from that moment onwards. I have changed lyrics often too. Censored Memories has changed a lot. As has Say Something Wonderful. I'm sure a lot of Cosmos and Departures will probably change too. ta ta for now is not posh. TTFN is also said a lot. yes please. Or buy me a dishwasher

My friend (who shall remain nameless) was working in a music shop. I went their and saw this 2nd hand guitar and thought it looked great. I asked to borrow it for the Budapest rehearsal I was on my way to. It sounded fantastic so the next day I went back to ask how much my mate wanted and he wasn't there. He had been sacked. So I called him and he said I should keep hold of it as he had never put the guitar on the shops system. He had been very unfairly sacked for someone elses mistake and was very angry so I did what he said and have kept hold of it ever since. Please note, I am not a thief. This guy was very obviously unfairly sacked and was used as a scape goat so the shop deserved it. great story and good for you ;D Thanks so much for taking the time to answer all our questions

Thanks for answering our questions John. Public Apology is pretty self-explanatory - I suppose I was being a bit nosy in trying to find out what life experience had influenced you when you wrote it (but that is of course your personal story). As for Walking on Broadway, I instantly thought of 911, hence why I wanted to know for sure. I know you moved there not long after it happened, so I assumed this was your reflection on the aftermath. So pleased we have a release date on 'Departures', but it seems so far away! I thought you were expecting it to be released early August... oh, I'm so impatient! I am sure this album will be a great success, and I look forward to future gigs. Best of luck to you. x

THANK YOU very much indeed, John, for taking the time to answer all our questions. So chuffed when I got home a few hours ago and saw this! As ever, I loved reading your answers - they're all great (though I wish the release date for your album wasn't so far away) !! Soooo nice that you keep answering personally, it really means a bloody lot. I look forward to playing "Go' one day but I need a long stage time and a string section. ... and I look forward to hearing you play "Go" one day and I absolutely don't mind a long stage time! Your saddest songs are the most beautiful and this one is really, really sad! I am JohnnyVic too. Just a cooler version of normal me.!!!! Aww, your "normal me" is PRETTY COOL too!!! Totally different feeling when being the frontman. I have to get into that place that only exists for a few moments in my life, but is where I am the most happy. Those allocated minutes where I am allowed to be myself and open my heart and soul for whomever wants to look and listen. The doors are only open for 30 minutes or so, depending on the set times. Thats the only time I am truly "me"As a result, it can be quite difficult to get to that place and sometimes it can take a few songs to get the doors open. I usually just shut my eyes and forget where I am and just let the music tell me whats going on. Loving this part as it really shows. This is one of the many things that make your live performance so amazing, YOUnique and unforgettable. I've seen you only twice (not enough!!), and I might be completely wrong here, but I thought in London it took you exactly two minutes to get to that place - emotionally and vocally. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oD9bcWrieEIt's fascinating and thrilling to get to feel the 'true you' and all your energy, passion and raw emotions 'first hand', with no interference whatsoever. I own more guitars than pedals. I think about 12 or 13 guitars and 5 basses. Got 2 Taylor acoustics being delivered Monday too. Its a bad habit. Hey, nothing wrong with that! I can think of worse habits! It's cool and you're just leading the life of a true musician. Makes me smile though to think that you own about 20 guitars/basses but no dishwasher ;D... but then again, as with every decent rockstar, it's always been "Sex & Drugs & Rock 'n' Roll", no-one ever mentioned a dishwasher... Okay, since we're at it... yes please. Or buy me a dishwasher I'd rather do it personally, but if you preferred using technology, I'd buy you one (no sh!t!!). Just make sure it doesn't get left on a tourbus, better yet, submit your home-address so that the thing can be delivered properly. ;D

So that pm I sent awhile back must have made no sense at all to you! It was meant to make you laugh, but I was so embarrassed after wards that I stopped drinking for two whole weeks after that! I'll never do THAT again! (the pm OR the non-drinking!)
