Oh,...........right,...........yea, If my kids and husband are annoying me too much when I'm trying to cook dinner, I just start drinking wine.............it helps! Anyway, you guys probably think I'm a lush, but I'm not really! It's just that people tend to volunteer my house for parties and gatherings, so there is always wine and various spirits on hand for those last minute events...........especially during summer...................and fall............and winter................. ;D. but in between......not that much!!

Oooh. Good Question.... Depends on the genre. I hate 80s hair bands but I love 80s cheesy pop. I love 90s alternative but I hate 90s pop. I was an 80s little kid and a 90s highschooler/college kid and so of course I went through a HUGE U2/Police phase. I have to go with 90s alternative as my favorite though... I loved all of the Seattle bands! I went through a huge Nirvana/Pearl Jam/Soundgarden/Alice in Chains phase. I must admit that I do love a lot of the cheesy 80s stuff because it reminds me of my childhood... rollerskating to Madonna, Duran Duran, Beastie Boys, etc. Actually, I think 80s Pop is better than 90s pop, ex: Cindy Lauper and The Bangles are much better than Wilson Phillips and Milli Vanilli. With the exception of U2 and REM, for me when it comes to rock and alternative, I think 90s are better. Smashing Pumpkins and Jeff Buckey are my all time favorites! Anyway, sorry for the novel there!! Aww, Missy, I loved your novel. Looks as if we have a lot more in common than the 'shoe-shopping' thing. I went through almost the same musical-phases (U2, The Police, R.E.M. etc.) and can absolutely relate to your words. And I would have to go for the 90's as well. I'm convinced at this certain time I was the greatest Nirvana fan under the sun, really into it. There was something about Kurt Cobain that's hard to describe, very surreal, a kind of aura, his way to emote to the music, just so raw and amazing, something that really got to me. And I loved in particular the eccentric feel (E-guitar) and the haunting, delicate clarity (acoustic) in his guitar playing. One of the greatest guitarists in my book, NOT the 'look how many notes I can play in 2 seconds' style but really soulful. Mister Cobain is still watching over me when I'm in the office as I have a framed poster of him on the wall - long blond hair, black leather jacket, guitar and a cigarette... a thrilling sense of anarchy - a bit of a counter-weight to all the 'law and order'-stuff I'm dealing with, day in day out. Funny that you mentioned Milli Vanilli - was a German based disco-pop duo, wasn't it? See... now I wrote a novel too...

Oh, I love your Curt Cobain poster!! Last night I did my weekly shopping and there was a book bag with the Rolling Stone cover of Curt Cobain on it and it made me think of you! Then I saw the one with Bono on it and it made me think of me!! ;D I almost bought it, but I don't really need another book bag!

Aw! Thanks, Jade! I loved your novel too! That's what I love about this board. Isn't it amazing that people from opposite sides of the globe and different cultures can have such things in common? My friends are not music junkies like I am, so they get tired of talking about music with me. That is such a Great poster, Jade!!! Nice office! Great to have Kurt watching over you while you work. Back in my college days, I used to have the Rolling Stone cover of Kurt on my wall in my dorm room... Right beside Bob Marley and Jimi Hendrix... My "Father, Son and Holy Ghost" to quote Don McLean... LOL! I totally agree with you about Kurt's playing being just so soulful. I think that the Nirvana on MTV unplugged has to be one of the greatest live performances ever in rock history. I must have watched that about a million times. I never saw Nirvana live but I did see Foo Fighters in the very early years and it was amazing! I also saw Pearl Jam. Great gig too!
LOL about Milli Vanilli!!! Yes, they were German and I think that their grammy taken away because they didn't actually sing on the album. Speaking of which, there is a really, really, really bizarre scene about Milli Vanilli in Bruno. Sidebar: I wonder if the reason I didn't like Bruno was because I'm not English and I don't have that English sense of humor that we Americans just don't understand. Maybe it's like Monty Python... just lost humor on Americans. Or maybe it's that I'm not a guy. I don't know.
@ Devlin: That's a tough choice betweet Bono and Kurt! I don't really need a book bag either but I think I want them both!

Walmart, $12. (it's embarassing to admit that I shop there but sometimes you'd be surprised at what they have!) They also had Kid Rock, Jonas Brothers, I think Hendrix and some rap artist............maybe Eminem, not sure. If anybody wants one but can't find them, I would be happy to get it for you and mail it. They really are pretty cool. I'm still thinking about getting one, it's just that I've sworn off impulse shopping! I ended up with too much stuff over the years, so now I really think it over a lot before I comit to buying! It works pretty well, but sometimes I miss out on some great deals because I wait too long .

Hey Kitine, I would love to hear about your drumming!! Do you have a band or are you a free agent? How long have you been playing? Do you play any other instruments? he!he!he! I don't have a band and I'm not a free agent either. I started playing drums few years ago (2004), I stopped and started again last year. I'm just in love with music, percussions and, of course, drums and drummers One of my friends started with the guitar this year and asked me to join him to create our own band. The problem is that my job doesn't let me enough time for that kind of things. But I really would have liked to say yes. I played piano when I was a little girl (10 years) but my first big performance traumatized me and I stopped Here's my kit ... in the middle of my living room ;D

Thank you so much for posting those pictures, kitine! Your gear looks really nice as does your living room. You haven't told us about your "Guinness world record drummer night" experience yet! I bet it was great! ************************************************** Aw! Thanks, Jade! I loved your novel too! That's what I love about this board. Isn't it amazing that people from opposite sides of the globe and different cultures can have such things in common? My friends are not music junkies like I am, so they get tired of talking about music with me. That's what I love about this board too, that we can talk about music and even find out that we have so much in common. Music is just an universal language, no boundaries whatsoever. That is such a Great poster, Jade!!! Nice office! Great to have Kurt watching over you while you work. I never saw Nirvana live but I did see Foo Fighters in the very early years and it was amazing! I also saw Pearl Jam. Great gig too! ROFL Missy, at your Father, Son and Holy Ghost remark. ;D And I have to agree, Nirvana MTV unplugged IS one of the greatest live performances ever in Rock history! What would we do without some footage like this! Early Foo Fighters sounds amazing! I've only seen them once, doing 3 songs or so at Live Earth in 2007, was nice as well. So I'll put that on my list. Interesting what you said about the English sense of humour being lost on Americans. Personally, not everything "Monthy Python"-style makes me laugh, but most of it I find quite funny. Walmart, $12. Wow! That's a beautiful kit and a gorgeous apartment, Kitine! What a lovely treehouse-like view from your livingroom! I Hope to hear you play sometime! Thanks for sharing! You haven't told us about your "Guinness world record drummer night" experience yet! I bet it was great! I would love to hear your words about it too, Kitine! Hey, Jade, She did post pics and videos on Karl's board! They are great! How can one person be so darn cute?? Oh, and a great drummer too!! karlbrazil.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=100That's what I love about this board too, that we can talk about music and even find out that we have so much in common. Music is just an universal language, no boundaries whatsoever. Yes! You are so right! The world would be a sad place without music, I think! I rarely can go a day without listening to something! Wow, Jade, you are such a lucky girl that you got to go to Live Earth! I have heard that the Live Earth concert was great! I have seen footage of Blunty from Live Earth but not of Foo Fighters! Will now have to YouTube it! Foo Fighters are right up there in my top, top, top of concerts ever but I would trade them in a heartbeat for seeing our boy, John! Don't tell Dave though because I LOVE him!!!! Haven't seen Bruno yet and therefore didn't know there was a scene about Milli Vanilli. So I'll put that on my list. Interesting what you said about the English sense of humour being lost on Americans. Personally, not everything "Monthy Python"-style makes me laugh, but most of it I find quite funny. Can't wait to hear your review. I am surprised that I didn't like it because I usually love comedies... I loved The Hangover! Some of my all-time favorites are Office Space, Old School, Animal House and There's Something About Mary, so I was disappointed that I didn't like Bruno. The only thing I can come up with is that the commonality on those that I like is that they have an American sense of humor, while Cohen is English. I do like Little Britain and Coupling though, so maybe that's not it. Maybe Bruno was just too in-your-face for me... Not subtle humor. Another thing that bothered me about it was that it portrayed all Southerners ignorant.... Yes, there are plenty of rednecks in the South but not all of us are. I haven't seen Borat yet so now it's on my list. Walmart, $12. (it's embarassing to admit that I shop there but sometimes you'd be surprised at what they have!) Will have to think about it! @ Devlin: Thanks for the kind offer. I will think about that too. They sound cute. I don't know which one I would want though. I really don't need another backpack as I too have accumulated too much stuff over my life. I am in the process of moving and all of my stuff is in a storage unit right now... You never realize how much stuff you have until you move.

Yes, moving has a way of letting you know how much stuff you have that you don't really need!

kitine: You have beautiful furniture! That must sound like a weird thing to say, but I was an interior design major for two semesters until I realized that I'm really bad at reading people. By that I just mean that an Interior Designer has to be able to know what people want, even when they, themselves don't really know what they want. Anyway..........I have a thing for nice furnishings..........so was supposed to be a compliment. ;D Also, I think it's great that you took up drumming. My brother was a drummer, and I've always thought that I could just listen to drum music forever, without any other instruments to accompany. But I never had the nerve to try to play, even though I've always wished I could. Good for you!
