Former Budapest singer/songwriter releases 2nd solo album “Departures”, the follow up to his critically acclaimed 2007 debut “Above The Cosmos”.
Following the break-up of Budapest in 2006, John moved to New York City and immersed himself in the city’s music scene in search of a new sound. He soon became a regular face in all the usual music venues across the Big Apple, acquiring a loyal and passionate following. Having recorded and released his debut solo album on his own Johnny Vic Records Label, Garrison took 18 months out to reconnect with his 1st musical passion, the bass guitar. Garrison entered the studio with various household names such as Leona Lewis, James Blunt and Gary Barlow with an additional 15 month world tour with Blunt. It was while on the road that Garrison wrote “Departures”, using his experiences in NYC and around the globe as influence.
With his heart firmly on his sleeve, “Departures’ documents Garrison’s time in New York and all that he had to leave behind to pursue his musical dream. Refreshingly, and sometimes brutally honest, Garrison opens his heart and soul for all to see on his new record. Mixing all of his musical influences from, Talk Talk and Ennio Morricone to Scott Walker and Radiohead, “Departures” is a soundtrack for anyone who has followed their own heart and dreams, regardless of the consequences.
