Let’s Run
A million come and gone, I narrow down to one The search is all over. I’m looking for no one Let’s run and never look back, Let’s run and never look back Let’s run, now I need no other, no other
Let’s tare down the walls of this old town And leave it all for the rest to run around and around and around I feel it’s time with this fire inside While it burns so bright, and it feels so right
A well worn trail, same scenery The same old adventures we did all yesterday
Let’s run and never look back Let’s run now I need no other, no other
Let’s tear down the walls of this old town And leave it all for the rest to run around, and around and around I feel it’s time, with this fire inside While it burns so bright, and it feels so right With it burning bright

I though Friday was going to be the single as well, but I won't complain if it's Let's Run instead ;D I love singles just to find new remixes or versions, and the lovely b-sides! Stupid me, I didn't have much time to read the bio and hadn't realized that Let's Run is going to be a single. Loved this song from the first listen and I think it's a good choice. Okay, we're still only guessing (and hoping) that there will be a single, but anyway... I too had always thought that 'Friday' would be particularly suitable to become a single, but since 'Let's Run' is just as great, vibrant, uplifting and radio friendly as far as length/decency goes, I do agree that it is a brilliant choice. It's an extremely catchy track and I can well imagine that he'll be heading for the bright lights with this offering. Did John ever put out a single? I don't know of any. Considering that a single, specifically a first single, is what gives an artist a musical identity, I think "Let's Run" is musically and lyrically a real good choice to serve as a 'signature song'. It will 'sell' John Garrison as an artist, and - hopefully - it will sell all his other, equally amazing new songs as well! Piano mix of "So Close" as a B-side would be wonderful (if possible without the implemented self destruction feature of the recent online-version )... and (if I'm dreaming) maybe also the first and slightly different mix of "Let's Run".

I like your ideas, Jade, but as you said, at the moment we're only guessing, until Master confirms that. I don't know know much about music industry, but I always thought that singles were a little pre-advertisement of the album, to catch more listeners and people interested on it, future possible purchasers. But I didn't know that to launch a single was so d@mn expensive Anyway, we didn't know if new babies are showed in that exhibition in London, I guess they are, so it's a good way to get more people interested on John's music. ;D Like you, Jade, I always thought of Friday as single, maybe because it was one of the first babies we listened, maybe because it's one of the strongest and captivating songs of Departures (from my opinion). Cold Coffee was older but musicians usually don't launch ballads as first song of an album, as far as I see. I'd be more-than-happy if Let's Run is launched as a single, or it has videoclip, from my point of view it's one of the best songs on Departures (not counting the two left: Cold Coffee -final version- and 2nd For The First Time), not only because it has energy, it's powerful and it makes you to dust your dance shoes, it has good melody as well, increasing in that way that John does so well, what makes you to go into the song step by step. It's like one of those songs that you listen for 1st time, and think "hey, it's cool" and your foot follows the rhythm of the music, and you finish dancing around without notice. And the message, maybe plenty of metaphors what gives the song different possible meanings, they all depending of the listener, it could be about love, but it could be about friendship too I think. Maybe it's about a good change (physical or not), or just to leave the place where you always were. I don't know, songs are so subjective, like poems or books. Did John ever put out a single? I don't know of any. On solo, as physical/downloadable single to buy somewhere, he didn't put any. But I always considered "Testimony" as single just because it has videoclip (and what a great videoclip ).

But I always considered "Testimony" as single just because it has videoclip (and what a great videoclip ). You're so right concerning 'Testimony' and the video, Lucy! Oh, how could I forget... he DID put out a single to promote "Above The Cosmos" (and I even have a signed copy). It's a 4-track sampler (Testimony- Walking On Broadway- Convincing Myself- Above The Cosmos). So ignore my nonsense regarding 'first single' and 'musical identity' etc. Sounded strange anyway when used in the same sentence with such a prolific artist like Mister Garrison, who is into music for so many years and has written, performed, arranged and recorded so many amazing songs.

"The video you are trying to view is currently not available for streaming in your region. We are sorry for the inconvenience." What region do I have to go to to be able to view it??? When does 'currently not' end?? Edit: OK, now I've waited until it's Wednesday in the UK, too... and also tried the German AOL.Spinner site... it does appear (13 views) but still nothing but inconvenience... "Just have a little patience"... lalala... Does anyone else have the same problem?

Hey, Lucy That's the way to the "Let's Run" video that just won't play - for me anyway: Click the link to the AOL Spinner website, at the top of the page, there's a field that says 'video', click on that one then type John Garrison in and click 'search'. Now a small picture of the video should appear on the left of the next page. Then click on the picture or the song-name and it starts loading. That's the point where the trouble begins, as then I constantly get the text 'currently not available' and so on... Hope this helps and that you can watch it in your region.
