Don't want the upcoming show to get lost in the 'Anyone here' thread, deserves its own I think. I'll be there. Anyone else from the boards planning on going? Napsi??(thanks for the SMS by the way, Happy New Year to you too!) Loraline?? Kati?? Thanks! Go, You for getting to go to both! I'm trying.... Still not sure yet... Keep you posted! Fingers Crossed! Of course, fingers crossed for you, Missy! Apart from gigging together we could pay your ancestors near Coventry a visit. @ Gray - Thank you for the message, I'll call you for assistance next week. Thanks! Wish you could have been there to shoe shop with me! Maybe John will announce a Vegas gig and we can finally all meet there and you will have your first trip to Vegas, Jadey! Hint... Hint... JOHN! Oh yessss, please! That would be my 'final fantasy'... a Garrison gig in Vegas and a gathering of music junkies and shoe addicts from all over the world. Probably more takers than one would imagine... I hear it's not only a girl's thing... both of it. Anyone trying for Canada, by the way??? Don't think so. I'd love to go but will be in London at this time, taking my Mum to the "Phantom of the Opera" at Her Majesty's Theatre. Was a gift for her birthday, so I'm afraid I cannot reverse it. As for artists touring Canada and the U.S., I've read that there are (pretty stupid) new visa regulations that make it difficult and really expensive for anyone other than the 'big names'. Does anybody know if that is true? Would be a shame actually!

Good idea on the thread, JayDee! Oh yessss, please! That would be my 'final fantasy'... a Garrison gig in Vegas and a gathering of music junkies and shoe addicts from all over the world. Probably more takers than one would imagine... I hear it's not only a girl's thing... both of it. ;D ;D ;D YES!!! Thanks! Go, You for getting to go to both! I'm trying.... Still not sure yet... Keep you posted! Fingers Crossed! Of course, fingers crossed for you, Missy! Apart from gigging together we could pay your ancestors near Coventry a visit. ;D ;D ;D www.coughtoncourt.co.uk/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coughton_CourtHere's the link for Coughton Court. It has been in the Throckmorton family since the 1400's. My grandmother was a Throckmorton. She, my Mom and my Aunt went to Coughton Court once and got to meet the family. I have never been there though I have been very close. When I spent a summer at Oxford, I went to Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick but I missed Coughton Court. As theafroshane says, "It's a little out of the way." It's out in the country in Warwickshire near a town called Alcester. If I make it to the gig, I will try to go over there. If you go for that sort of castle tour stuff, I think it would be lots of fun if you joined me. ;D That is, if I get to make it to the gig... Still trying to work it out... Flights are $$$$! Anyone trying for Canada, by the way??? Don't think so. I'd love to go but will be in London at this time, taking my Mum to the "Phantom of the Opera" at Her Majesty's Theatre. Was a gift for her birthday, so I'm afraid I cannot reverse it. Sorry, Jadie, but that sounds like a fun trip with your Mom! Hope you have a lovely time at the opera in London! As for artists touring Canada and the U.S., I've read that there are (pretty stupid) new visa regulations that make it difficult and really expensive for anyone other than the 'big names'. Does anybody know if that is true? Would be a shame actually! I haven't heard about the new Visa thing but I am not surprised to hear that after the underpants bomber incident on Christmas Day. The only time I have ever had to have a Visa was when I went to Turkey, so I don't have much experience with Visas. It was cheap and easy to get... Though I guess it's a little harder to get into the U.S. than Turkey. LOL! I don't see how they could charge a lot for Visas because that would discourage tourism. Even if they are required, I don't think any of you European Boardies who decide to come to US or Canada would have any trouble getting Visas. You don't fit the terrorist profile. What's very inconvenient is all of the airport security TSA subjects everyone to when going through the checkpoint... Not fun! My least favorite part is taking off my shoes and going through the puffer/x-ray machine like a common thug criminal! UGH! I think I would be ok with being profiled if it meant I never had to go through airport security points B.S. ever again! LOL! I guess it's the price we pay for safety but it makes me long for the days when I flew as a kid and there was no security at all and no fear of terrorism. I still think that TSA could make it easier on travelers and not confiscate make-up and toothpaste from little, old ladies.

WOW, Missy, thanks for the links. I didn't know you had English roots, how nice. And boy, that place looks rather spectacular, I'm impressed. I love 'castle tour stuff', will try to visit the real thing when I'm there (depends on whether I go to Coventry by coach or by car - not particularly keen on English 'goofy' driving, though - much less considering current weather conditions). Still hoping you or any of the fellow boardies will make it to at least one of the upcoming shows. If anyone needs a hotelroom in Coventry, I've booked two, LOL, one 3 weeks ago (non refundable, so whoever wants it can have it for free, only downside: it's on the opposite side of town/venue) and another one just recently, close to the Esquires Coffee Shop. I haven't heard about the new Visa thing but I am not surprised to hear that after the underpants bomber incident on Christmas Day. The only time I have ever had to have a Visa was when I went to Turkey, so I don't have much experience with Visas. It was cheap and easy to get... I still think that TSA could make it easier on travelers and not confiscate make-up and toothpaste from little, old ladies. I think the new Visa regulations do not affect tourist travels, but artists who want to earn some money there with touring/merchandise etc. (wasn't it actually "burn some money"?). Regarding airport security, I've heard they will possibly loosen it a little bit, specifically the liquid restrictions for cabin baggage (might be a national thing, though). As for the 'taking one's shoes off' bit, slowly but surely I get used to that, always makes me smile when the security guy feels obliged to tell me what my heels are made of and what's inside (thank god I rarely put the drugs in there )

as for the visa regulations, when I went to NY in 2008, I had to show information on where I would be staying and information on my return flight. I'm thinking they just don't want people to 'disappear' while touring around with a guitar. Also, travelling to the States means security has increased at the airports where flights for the States and Canada depart. In Amsterdam that means complete bodyscan and I think Germany is looking at that type of scan too. As for the Underbelly concert, I won't be going Weather conditions are not that great and the Eurostar has had several problems lately, so I'll just wait for the good weather... For those going to London/Coventry, I hope you dont get snowed in and make a lot of pics/vids for us

Yes, bodyscanners have been discussed extensively here in the media lately. For those going to London/Coventry, I hope you dont get snowed in and make a lot of pics/vids for us I'll definitely try to provide you all with some pics (as long as I don't get snowed in, that is), not too sure about videos, though, as I still only have my old and rather cr@ppy camera.

Getting back from the Underbelly.... John was running between the recording studio and the Underbelly So we had a way too short concert.. But the good news is is more than great John was of course great on stage, this time with Chris on keyboard and Peter on chello. And shortly after the concert, he ran for the recording studio, where he is with the recording of music for Haiti... I believe he is working with REM, but I am sure John will tell us more when he has time to do so... Meanwhile us addicts will have to do with the Underbelly and a few lucky ones will get to hear him play at the Esquire coffee house in Coventry ;D You will all have to wait for pics and vids till I get home, the computer at the hostel doesnt have any uploading facilities (cardreaders or fast internet) Setlist for the Underbelly : Rendezvous I leave on Friday Cold coffee Alexander and Annabel Is this the best it gets (from Budapest days) 2nd for the 1st time (I'm missing the first seconds of the song had to change the battery)
