I'm glad you liked them and sorry you didn't get to see all of them. I love the one of the Raconteurs with Ricky Skaggs and also the White Stripes covering Dolly Parton's "Jolene." I hope you got to see those. I'v never gotten to see The Raconteurs or The White Stripes live. I'm a wee bit jealous, JayDee, that both you and John got to see Brendan Benson. I like his voice. I think he is currently touring the Southeast, so I maybe I'll get to see him sometime soon. Oh, yes, I could view those of the Raconteurs and White Stripes. I had heard that "Jolene" cover before and also thought that this was really great. And if you get the chance to see Brendan Benson, GO! - You won't regret. In Berlin it was a small crowd of about 200 people, all very attentive and really into it, what made for a nice atmosphere. That's how I love my music, LOL! BTW, as for the copyright thing on YouTube, I've been getting that a lot lately, never had those issues before. Also, I never got to see the wedding video featuring "Go", neither on John's nor on theafroshane's homepage. It just won't play for me. Is it still available somewhere? Can you watch it, Missy?? Alison Krauss is one of my favorites too! She has a great voice and she can really play too. I love the album she did with Robert Plant and I love that white dress too. I didn't know she did an album with Robert Plant, will have to check this out now! Thanks for the links. ;D I love the Johnny Cash version of "Hurt." I had not heard that one before. Thanks! Speaking of Johnny Cash collaborations, I like the song, "The Wanderer," that he did with U2 on the Zooropa album. Also, did you see "Walk the Line?' That was a great movie. Saw that movie, and have to agree, it was very well done. Same goes for the Cash/U2 collaboration (that was a collaboration actually, while the "Hurt" thing was 'only' a cover I think - sorry, my mistake..). Loved also when U2 were playing it as a tribute to Johnny Cash, The Edge on helium, nice one... You probably know it, anyway: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO8DtcW6yAc&feature=related I must admit that I have a hate/love relationship with Trent Reznor, so you have inspired me to listen to him some more! I love "Hurt" but I have issues with "Closer." The video scares me a little... LOL! I don't know why. Off to listen to some Reznor now... Thanks, Jadie! ;D Karma for you, girlie! Thanks for the Karma, Missy. Back at you for being so brave to listen to Reznor . I know what you mean, that "Closer" video IS rather scary and the lyrics are pretty much on the risque side. Yet, I like this song a lot. It's kind of soul-piercing and brutally honest, and I think there is far more to it than the obvious. Plus it has a killer beat.... Ear candy not so much of course. After all, anyone who knows what Reznor had to get through, which, I imagine, was to hell on earth and back, won't expect some "I kissed a girl" kind of stuff. There are reams of remixes of this song (I guess I've heard them all, LOL) and many cover versions (MGMT did one and Maroon 5, too). I don't like everything this guy has been coming up with over the years, but most of it I find rather impressive and what I definitely like about Trent Reznor is his ability to play so many different instruments and also his attitude towards the music industry, as he really took the long way home. I often got the impression that what he pretty much strives for is to polarize. I believe he wants people to either love his music or hate it, just not to find it 'well, it's okay'. Ooops, have to stop it now, no one asked for a life story ... plus I still owe you a reply to your lovely PM. Life gets in the way, sometimes.

BTW, as for the copyright thing on YouTube, I've been getting that a lot lately, never had those issues before. I guess YouTube is being stricter lately over copyrights. Also, I never got to see the wedding video featuring "Go", neither on John's nor on theafroshane's homepage. It just won't play for me. Is it still available somewhere? Can you watch it, Missy?? I haven’t seen it either… I rarely watch reality TV, so I am checking on the online links now for you, Jade…Just a sec… NOPE! Not working! I didn't know she did an album with Robert Plant, will have to check this out now! Yes! It’s really nice, I think, to see collaborations of the older artists with the younger ones. You probably know it, anyway: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MO8DtcW6yAc&feature=related Oh, Thanks, Jadie, for the link! I haven’t seen this one before. NICE ONE! Yeah, is he swallowing helium? It amazes me how much Joachim Phoenix looks like Johnny Cash and also that he is the little boy that was in Parenthood with Steve Martin. www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oZBxOuAS3E&feature=relatedThanks for the Karma, Missy. Ooops, have to stop it now, no one asked for a life story ... plus I still owe you a reply to your lovely PM. Life gets in the way, sometimes. LOL! Thanks for the Karma, JayDee! I do like the beat a lot on “Closer,” actually, it’s just the lyrics that are brutal. I wouldn’t consider myself a Puritan or opposed to the risqué, but for whatever reason, it’s hard to get through the end of it for me… Not that that’s bad. It’s just a tough song for me. It’s easier while not watching the video, though. The other video that is tough for me is “Black Hole Sun” by Soundgarden, with the Barbies on the grill melting with creepy smiles… Ahhhh! Scary! It’s probably just me. I can’t watch scary Halloween movies either! Or that Nicolas Cage movie, “8mm.” Hahahah! I didn’t know that Maroon 5 did a cover of it. That should be interesting. I LOVE Adam Levine’s voice, though I wonder what Reznor thinks of Maroon 5 covering him… LOL @ the thought of Reznor doing “I kissed a girl” kind of stuff. You do have a point there. That would just not work for him to do that kind of music. You are right, he does go out of his way to be polarizing. That’s a very punk and alternative attitude. I guess that’s what makes him interesting too. Why be bland or mediocre, though? Perhaps my tastes runs a little more poppy than I like to admit though… LOL! Or I haven’t quite been Reznorized yet. I'm trying his stuff out more that I woud have otherwise. Thanks to you, Jade! So Karma back at ya, girlie! I think it’s easier to get Garrisonized though! LOL! ;D No worries on the PM! Anytime! “Life gets in the way!” Glad to know you enjoyed my ramblings!!! I think I definitely have written a life story on this one... Sorry! Oopsie... I just realized that I just gave John Karma for his hilarious hijacking of the 10,000th post... Must come back in an hour to give you your Karma, Jade! LOL! ;D I wonder why that is the Karma rule?

So today the minute that I got in my car, the first song that was on the radio was "Closer" and I had to think of you , Jade, and smile! It was as if you were telling me to keep listening and I would get it. The beat is infectious on that one.
Cheers! Sending you some Karma! Woo Hoo!

Aww, Missy, what a coincidence! ;D I think "Closer" is a great song to be listened to in the car, even though them shots of Adrenaline and speed limits don't go together very well. Unfortunately, this "run for your life"- feeling that comes with this tune (or drive for your life, in this case) doesn't count as an excuse with most any policeman on this planet. Some Karma for you (and thanks for the kind words in the "So" thread). I really enjoy reading your postings, too.

Thanks, Jade! LOL! It's funny that you mention the speed limit thing because I have a tendency to speed! One reason to move to Germany: The Autobahn! Of course, then one would need a Porsche! Driving a Jeep fast isn't as exciting!

An evening of great music and musicianship! I've got a few short video clips, but thanks to my cr@ppy equipment the sound is awful. So, I'll spare you posting them here, not worth the upload. Here's one I found on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=a45Je5NwLjs&feature=related

Jadey, I read your lovely review the other day but "life gets in the way" and I am just now getting time to respond but part of it is gone now.... So I don't remember all of what you said but I thought it wes a great review... It was Rolling Stone worthy! I'm so glad you had such a great time! I do remember that you mentioned that you thought the drummer was great and I just wanted to say that Carter Beauford is my favorite drummer after John Bonham, of course! I think you said something about the fact that you liked Dave's voice and I have to say that Dave's voice is one of my top 5 male voices ever. Also, I think you said something to the effect of the fact that you weren't a Dave Head before but may have to rethink! I'm smiling at this! ;D I think you said that you had only one album, the new one. I am a Dave Head and I have all of his albums. My favorite is crash and my second favorite is "Before These Crowded Streets." As for live recordings, "Listener Supported" is my favorite. Though, "Live at Redrocks" is great too! Thanks for the link! Glad you had a great time!

I'm sorry, Missy. I thought my review was far too detailed to post on an other artists board, so I deleted the better part of my "bla-bla". Have it still stored on my lap, though. I can't believe that you remembered so much of what I had written (Karma for that one ). Your reply was spot on (as ever). Thanks for the record-recommendations, will definitely check them out when I have the time. ***************************************************** There's rumors of an FOTC tour next spring... i hope they're true!!! It's official now, FOTC European tour in May!!! UK, Ireland, Denmark, Sweden, Norway. That's the good news. Bad news: I've waited for so long to get a chance to see them perform. Presale was supposed to start today at 9am and despite being in the office with lots of work to do, I tried for almost 3 hours to get a ticket for at least one of the London shows. At first I didn't get through and when I got through eventually, there were no more tickets available. Phenomenal demand it seems. At the same time there were already tickets popping up at seatwave/GetMeIn, face value less than 40 GBP, at a price of about 140 GBP, B.A.S.T.A.R.D.S. Ended up with a ticket for Birmingham, May 10th - not sure, though, if I can actually make it there. Hope I can get one for London, tomorrow when the tickets go on general sale - Never say die. edit: Thanks Lucy for the heads up. I didn't know Snow Patrol was coming to Berlin. Just googled, and voila... tickets go on sale tomorrow. Saw them twice last year and really loved it. Now that they don't come to Madrid you simply have to come to Berlin in May and join me at their concert. Think about it!!!

Hey Lucy, how stupid of me to post my reply above your entry so that you can't find it. I'm sorry. There are still tickets available for Snow Patrol's concert in Berlin (the only show in Germany). If you want I'd order a ticket for you. The venue is only 10 minutes from where I live, so if you need a place to stay, we've got plenty of room. Just come on over, Lucy, Berlin is really nice, especially in May.

I don't have a doubt about it, I really want to go to Berlin someday! But the main problem is the money, now more than never, two unemployed and a house to furnish But I guess Snow Patrol will launch a new Cd, and I hope to have a new chance to see them, without worrying about where or how much money! But I've heard that U2 is coming to Spain in September, so maybe Snow Patrol will be their supporter again

but I'll keep my fingers crossed Snow Patrol will be coming to Spain this year, supporting U2 or even playing their own gig. Best of luck, Lucy, with your job/new house and all!
