Censored Memories
Streams of memories shrouded in orange glow. Some twisted in time, feels like it’s yesterday. Black and white stories I see Watered down and censored for me. I can’t find truth in the mind. I will try and let old dogs lie.
I’m doing it again, Now I’m twisting all the history I made, And my memory finds the misery erased. It never felt that way I’m sure, I don’t believe me anymore.
Faded photograph, evidence I did smile. So lonely, so insecure, So confused, searching for more. Tears run dry, painfully shy. It’s all gone now I’ve finally found.
I’m doing it again, Now I’m twisting all the history I made, And my memory finds the misery erased. It never felt that way I’m sure, I don’t believe me anymore.

I love, love, love this song ... the rhythm as much as the words. It definitely has to be on the list of my personal Top Ten out of the 70 something Garrison-songs I know!!!!

I personally love the demo of this song...I love that they put Morgan Freeman's parole board speech in The Shawshank Redemption in it...such a poignant speech. Great Song and Great Movie!

Thank you, kerpea, for the info. I didn't notice it was a part of this speech, although I've seen the movie several times (but only once in its original version). It IS a great movie, actually one of the best films ever made. A remarkable and moving story about fears and hope, human loneliness and the value of life-long friendship that touched me deeply. The "Mozart" scene is still one of my favourite movie scenes of all time because the music sounds so beautiful and yet so surreal (almost bizarre) when echoing through this place of violence and dreariness.
"I have no idea to this day what those two Italian ladies were singing about. Truth is, I don't want to know. Some things are better left unsaid. I'd like to think they were singing about something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words, and it makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, those voices soared higher and farther than anybody in a grey place dares to dream. It was as if some beautiful bird had flapped into our drab little cage and made these walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, every last man in Shawshank felt free." - Red
... that's so very well put. I too believe that the power of music is immeasurable, it can take you everywhere... and that leads back to topic as it goes for almost any song (Censored Memories included) created by Mister Garrison whose beautiful music has touched my soul and changed my life in many ways (... I wouldn't make it sound so pathetic if it wasn't true..).
Thank you, John!

I prefer the other version but i love this one too, above all aroun 1.14 with chelo, ooh... Anyway, I always thought that Censored Memories sounds better live than in a CD (if in CD it's great, live is... Brilliant)
