When The Lights Go Out
When the lights go out, when the lights go out I don’t want to be here when the freaks come out
Take me home, take me home Round here there is way too much temptation
So hear me out, hear me out It evens out in the end, every time
So tell the king all of the things he wants to hear All he knows is perfect and so crystal clear Lightning always accompanied by wind and rain It knows no different, it will always be the same
Judgement day, judgement day I would not want to be in your shoes that day You may see burns on me But I will be here standing tall defiantly
So hear me out, hear me out It evens out in the end, every time
So tell the king all of the things he wants to hear All he knows is perfect and so crystal clear Lightning always accompanied by wind and rain It knows no different, it will always be the same

I voted 'Happy Hour' (sure you guessed it as it's only the two of us so far ) What's your least favourite??? I think I'd go for 'When the lights go out', even though I still like it... I think it's the most daring on the album... Well, this was then… By now I highly fancy this song (and the second 'chapter' that comes with the following track). Obviously, I needed a few listens more before the song began to make sense (though I still don’t have that much of a clue what these lyrics mean - "slightly hidden" indeed...but it's okay). However, I'm again and again blown away by the many colours of his voice in this song, the sound of the piano, the heavy and quite hypnotic drum beat and the dominant bass. Since there's no-one else credited for that on the album cover, it must have been John then who played all these instruments!?!? Forward thinking music, done exactly as it should be done!! Unbelievable... Genius should be his first, middle and last name...

H E L P !!! I can't stop watching this: de.youtube.com/watch?v=LOcSpnYVxQE To make a song sound amazing on a studio album is one thing, to make it sound just as amazing at a live performance, where there's nothing to hide behind, is another. In my opinion, "When The Lights Go Out" is particularly challenging to be performed acoustically - difficult to sing, difficult to play. So I'm really impressed with this version, filmed at Rockwood Music Hall last December, as it is far more than a job well done. It's absolutely fascinating to see and to hear how he conveys his inner vision of the song with so much feeling and passionate intensity. Love his stunning vocals and great piano playing, especially the way he hammers the point home, just brilliant. Oh boy, I guess I need to find something about his music that I don't like, something that doesn't strike such strong and undeniable emotion in me (chances are rather slim I'm afraid), before people suspect me of getting paid for saying nice things.

ROFL Jade...Good Luck with that...I don't think Mr. Garrison has it in him to make something we don't like...I have the same problem though!

So as we give up on this challenge we have to convince other people of this point of view...
