Hello, it’s been a while, I’ve missed you, you know I’m glad we stayed in touch though It’s good to see you
How you been? There’s been no one since you I seen Well, no one worth mentioning, probably
Cause we shared the stars with the sand on our backs And you said you’d never felt anything close So why are you watching the hands on your watch move painfully slowly around
You are the reason I came here at all So why are you anxious and checking your calls We had the real thing in summer just gone Now happy hours’ over
The rain washed away healthy glow You can’t stay that late, you say A busy day for you
Cause we shared the stars with the sand on our backs And you said you’d never felt anything close So why are you watching the hands on your watch move painfully slowly around
You are the reason I came here at all So why are you anxious and checking your calls We had the real thing in summer just gone Now happy hours’ over

It is pretty much how I imagined. The end bit was originally going to be snippets of the whole album but the sound of the orchestra packing away and the sound of NYC outside my window was more hypnotic. The brass band bit came out way more professionally then expected. It was meant to be a slightly out of tune school band (think Lisa's school orchestra in Simpsons) but they were just too d**n good. So I kept the laughter of me dropping the baton in the recording to make it a bit less serious. The end of happy hour was recorded at the College Of St Rose in Albany, NY. In the school theatre. Marisela and Sally both are singing on the outro. The very high bits over the very end and sirens is actually me. I have a very girlie falsetto. And here I was thinking after listening to "Happy Hour" at least a thousand times I knew everything about this song. Really interesting additional info. I'm a sucker for his 'very girlie falsetto'. Other than that I like the idea of "Lisa's school orchestra" ;D but am kind of glad that the brass band sounds so professional as it really suits the song. Listening to this track is an experience I never get tired of, and it's the most perfect album closer imaginable.

Soooooo, I have been listening to this song for months and I just realized that the lyric is, "Well, no one worth mentioning." I have to say, "OUCH!" Guess there is something worse than being on the ex list... Being on the no one worth mentioning list! LOL! I thought the lyric was, "Well, no one was mentioning." Meaning that neither one was saying what was really on their minds... Totally different but both interesting.

Great rendition of this beautiful song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ck5KPWuTVbA&feature=share'Happy Hour' is definitely one of my favourite ever songs. There is no song that I can think of more perfect than this. Been listening to the album version about 2000 times by now, still stops me in my tracks EVERY time! All kinds of awesome, 'goosebumpy' from start to end... my song of the century, really!
