@ Lucy...tell your boss you have the flu...with all the attention on this new flu outbreak they probably won't even ask questions...and they sure don't want you around to get others sick... Well...this was a great holiday weekend for us...spent the weekend in our pool soaking up the sun and drinking some very tasty frozen drinks... All was good till last night. Our son was at a friends house swimming in their pool and was hurt. He had a huge gash just above his eye and had to get 6 stitches in it. Can't believe we had such a great weekend to be finalized by a three hour trip to the emergency room...gotta love having a boy. Of course, this was not our first trip to the ER...we are pretty use to it...LOL! Broken bones, stitches...not sure what he'll do next! Be glad you only have one! My sister had 4 boys!!!! LOL! We're 5 sisters in the family

Wow!! 5 girls!!! I can't imagine! Is it like having 4 best friends to talk to all the time...............or do you argue? I always wanted a little sister! My sister is 6 years older than me, then there is my brother. My sister left home at 18 years old.........I felt kinda lonely after that and asked my mom what my chances were for a little sister. She laughed really hard!!! My parents were divorced later that same year!!!

Wow! That's a lot of girls! It's just my little sister and I. We are 5 years apart. She was born 3 days before my 5th borthday. I always wanted a brother too... Oh well. So sorry about the divorce, Devlin. That must have been hard.

I have only 1 sibling – an elder sister. She always wanted my mother to bear a boy, that’s why she has always treated me as a brother. When I was half a year old she fed me by grapes. I didn’t have teeth then yet and there was so much food in my mouth that I could have run out of air. Then when I was 2 she cooked a pie of sand for me, I tasted it. The same year I added quite a bit of glue and she ate it! ;D

Hahaha! A pie of sand! LOL!!!! Luckily my sisters and I get on very well now. But we like making jokes and giving frights to each other. We have a very dark sense of humour, and there's one joke that we never do it again: one of my sisters lied in the corridor, and I put some Mercurochrome (a red liquid for injuries) over her clothes, and I started shouting as mad... My other sister were in tears during hours! But the best of all is that everyone of us have own tastes in music, but we all like Take That and Budapest

Great that you all like Budapest! So I guess you will be ordering five copies of Johns new CD!! Then you will have your christmas shopping done early!! ;D My sister and I always exchange music! Last year she introduced me to Michael Buble' and I introduced her to James Blunt! This Christmas she will be getting Johns new CD and maybe, Above The Cosmos as well!

I put in here... @ Devlin: ooooh, you missed me? I think it takes a lot more to scare me off... so don't worry 'bout that... You won't be able to get rid of me just now ;D You were right... life kept me busy... was celebrating various birthdays, helped my grandparents in the garden and had to prepare a presentation for university... besides all that I had to deal with more than just one hangover and lack of sleep The presentation today went really well... so in order to reward myself I'm here now... Actually I have to prepare another presentation for Saturday... for which I haven't done ANYTHING just yet... was cleaning my room instead in order to avoid working on it ;D but I guess that's me ;D so not to worry back to Ireland... I was only 18 too when I left for Dublin to work there... It was just great... no parents... earning your own money (not that it was a lot)... freedom loved the west coast too... Where on the west coast have you been exactly? 'bout the christmas thing... christmas time in Germany in general is actually really nice... christmas markets and loads of mulled wine ;D and especially in the area where I'm from all the "Schwippbögen" (candle arch - upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/4/4f/Seiffen_Volkskunst_%2808%29_2006-11-30.jpg/800px-Seiffen_Volkskunst_%2808%29_2006-11-30.jpg) are lending a nice and cosy atmosphere... love that... just hate the shopping part... thank god you can do a lot on the internet nowadays ;D

@ Kati: whew....glad I didn't run you off!! Sometimes I think I say things the wrong way, at least I worry that I do . Yea, it was a long time ago but if I remember correctly...........was the Cliffs of Moher, Byrne and Bunratty Castle on the west coast. All the rest of the time was spent in Dublin. I did the traditional Windmill Lane pilgrimage, Trinity College to see the Book of Kells, Dublin Castle, shopping on Grafton St...............and I spent a lot of time just hanging out in St. Stephens Green! The canals were fascinating to me because I had never seen anything like them except in books, so probably seems silly to you europeans but nothing like that here ............except maybe in New Orleans, but I've never actually made it down there (it's on my 'to do' list). Our christmas is never complete without baking Springerle' and pheffernuse. And all the ornaments that I grew up with were from when my parents lived in Frankfurt. My dad still uses them today! And my mom is still searching for a recipe for Oxtail Soup that is as good as she remembers having in Germany! Yes, God bless the internet for shopping! It's like every man for himself if you shop here during December! And everyone is extra rude behind the steering wheel! I try to have my shopping done before Thanksgiving, just to avoid all the horrible traffic! Unfortunatly I still have to buy groceries! I guess it's the same almost everywhere!! Glad you're back!! ;D

Oh wait.........since we're in this thread................guess we had better have a drink to Kati's successful presentation! Is everyone ok with vodka and orange juice, otherwise known as Screwdrivers?! Was my drink of choice for many years until I discovered Baileys.

Sounds yummy So interesting to read your posts about Ireland (I never wanted to go until both of you started to talk about it!) and about Christmas. I prefer to do the shopping thing before the time too But I always forget the present of somebody But that's the only thing in common I think, the traffic while you're shopping; at home I don't like very much to put ornaments, but I like to see them in other houses, ha ha! My mother doesn't think in the same way, and she buys new ornaments every single year (this year in blue! Next year in red! Next ones will be golden! ), so when she says "let's see how is the Christmas tree", I run as far as I can... Let's run and never look back LOL

missalabama: vacations would have been nice... will have to wait until the 18th of July... but then I'm off till sometime in October *yeah* Glad to hear you've missed me too I love the Cliffs I love Galway, I love the Ring of Kerry, I love the whole west coast... I love hanging out in St. Stephens Green (the park not the shopping center... well that too actually) with a good book or a friend and a Smoothie... @ Lucy: You really should go to Ireland one day. Dublin has some really nice places to hang around and the west coast of Ireland is breathtaking ... oh and really expensive too. Brought some irishness to the board *points at her avatar* ;D @ Devlin: Can't help you with a recipe for oxtail soup... not into that at all... lol We really shouldn't be talking 'bout christmas in June... lol...
