'Boy Cries Wolf' has been in my head the whole day again. I woke up to 'Testimony' though

Although I know I should be focusing on his recent masterpiece rather than on his demos, I can't seem to stop listening to these songs, either. So my current Johnny favorite (no pun intended, Angel Heart.. ) is definitely DREAMSTEALERS. To call it just a song would be greatly disrespectful, it's far more than that - strong songwriting at its best, 9 minutes of telling a (very sad) story, brilliantly set to beautiful music. I'd call it bordering genius if it wasn't an understatement. The way John puts his thoughts into words/lyrics is already unbelievable, but the way he turns those lyrics into musical visions (assuming, of course, he started with the lyrics on this song) simply blows me away. As much as "I'm seeing twisted pictures that I've never seen before" sounds exactly like that, as much conveys the arrangement of the second, rather different part of the song the despairingly dark feeling that comes with the lyrics. His singing is almost painfully intense, with words that seem to end in resignation and disillusion, only to be followed by a two minute 'sonic' journey that takes you from what feels like a flicker of hope to what finally resonates in a sound of infinity which links it back to the beginning of the song. That's at least what I hear (hope I'm not too blind...). After listening to everything Garrison available (and that's more than 70 (!) songs) I can hardly think of anything else musically-wise that has had such a deep and profound impact on me, except for classical music... maybe... Oh dear, wish I had words to say it right, but needed to get this out of my system anyway... *pictures John rolling his beautiful, big blue eyes* - I'm sorry, more information than you needed to know, right???

I'm really stuck on 'Public Apology' these days, watching the video taken at his gig in December again and again. Love him playing the piano, very moving performance. I guess it's one of his most personal songs, but then again... they're all...

It really is WAY to hard to pick one. It really depends on the day...Some days you feel blah, and one line may pop out that you never connected with, and suddenly you do...

I absolutely love "Something somewhere" now... and of course still "Abdicate" and "Life gets in the way". "Floating past the rooftops" grew on me.
