After the latest news update I figured we should probably start a new thread to discuss the news about 'odd-shaped babies' and 'crazy stubborn ideas':
"Daily News - September 23, 2008 I've finished in the studio folks. For now anyway. 15 new babies have entered the world and I'm very happy. Lets hope they grow up to be good little children. If not good, then good at being bad.
Thanks to all the amazing musicians who helped me so much and to Matt Shane for making a crazy stubborn idea a reality.
Bye for now
John "

My heart is a flutter just thinking about it ;D I have a feeling we will have to wait quite a while though. I assume we will have to wait till sometime next year after the tour is over Don't worry...I will still be here waiting

I wonder how it will be called... I'm so excited! Same here!!! I really have a thing for album titles, there are many great ones out there. I often think of names for imaginary albums, even for John's album (maybe something like 'The Real Me' or 'It's Mind, All Mind' or 'Emerge and See'. Sure, the name heavily depends on the songs that make the album, and I guess for the artist it's just the icing on the cake to give the 'child' its name. John, do you think Cold Coffee will be on your new album? I love this song so much... 99.9% sure. It would take a major fuck up in the studio to keep it off the album. I have already written and demoed all the instruments and different musical parts and it sounds wonderful already in my rather bias opinion Fortunately, as yet, there hasn't been anything reported on a major fuck up in the studio regarding 'Cold Coffee', so here's hoping it's up to 100% now that it's on the album. WooHoo!!! I premiered 3 new songs that I put the finishing touches to that day but have been working on for a while and I'm extremely happy with them. "Alexandra and Annabel"Cold Coffee" and "Once Around The Block". Snippets can be found on YouTube if you search hard enough That's what he wrote in his newsletter in May - What puzzles me a bit: It reads that the song is called 'Alexandra and Annabel' (as it still appears on Youtube that way), but now it's actually 'Alexander and Annabel' . One would assume that it should have some kind of effect on the song-meaning whether it's about a man and a woman or rather two women??? Won't ask this in the questions thread, though, for I'm afraid Mister Garrison won't get back to us because of sooo many questions. Maybe someone else can answer this???

I think one of the 2 is a slip of the pen... My guess is the songtitle is Alexander and Annabel, since it's two names carved in a bench in one of the many parks in NY.. And to be honest, I do believe that is what he said when he performed that song in April, but we all know how great I am at writing down lyrics from just listening to a song...

Thank you very much indeed, theafroshane, for clearing that up! Without starting a new topic 'Ask theafroshane a question' maybe you can answer this as well??: What's the next steps of engineering in the recording process??? Is it possible to get the mixing (what tends to be a bit of a time-killing monster I think) and mastering done without the constant participation of the artist himself??? How come that sometimes songs on the same album are produced by different people??? Is this a matter of rights or based on who gave the money??? THANXXXXX J. xx

producer doesn't always mean "paid for it"...
people collaborate with different people and especially in the pop world if someone cowrites a song or track and work on it with the artist, they are "producing" the track.
generally recording takes the longest, then mixing can be short long (depends what the intent is) and mastering is usually just a day...
some artists leave the mixing to the mixer/producer and just come in to approve. some like to be there the whole way, but i doubt you'd find an artist who didn't want to be involved in the process through to the end. Mastering is sort of about the final details so alot of times the artist isn't around or that, but every situation is different...
please don't start a topic just for me, i'm just a regular user like everyone else... a big fan of John's music!

Hey, thank you so much, theafroshane, for your quick reply. Interesting to know and a very professional answer to my not so professional questions.
Of course, I won't start a new topic, it's just because it was the third time I've been asking a question and got a reply from you (re: Testimony video, songtitle..., remember???).
So, thank you again, it's much appreciated.

back home after a long day in Amsterdam .. I'll give here a first and short report on things... Heineken music hall in Amsterdam is absolutely a great venue for music The sound was great, the music better! The boys played a huge setlist, including songs from B2b and YES they played Love, love love as well as another song. Before the concert I teamed up with jauntyone (Nicola) and we managed to get to the front. There is what I thought the only negative thing about the Heineken hall... the stage was kept small, so those who were just right of the piano had no chance of seeing John, who was standing behind the piano... For those in the back of the hall... great news for you... during the concert, when James takes a jump towards the crowd, he this time walked through the hall to a 2nd platform in the back and performed from there ;D so those in the back could see him up close and personal too For those wanting to take pics, center and center left are the better spots to take pics. At one occasion, Ben, John and Karl sit together on the left corner of the stage, James in the center and Beardy behind on piano... Brightest stars give a beautiful starry night as backgroung and Shine on is showered with green and red lasers... I didn't get that much pics... none of John... and when my insulinpump malfunctioned I had to leave for first aid before the concert was over.. Guess it wasn't my day But I still have London and Oberhausen to look forward too, so I'll make up for that one, no doubt After the concert, Jauntyone and I teamed up and as boardies do, we waited till the boys came out Since it was the first European concert of the Autumn tour, they had a private party with friends and family, therefore we had to wait quite a while. But worth every minute of it They all took time for us, being nice as always Jaunty got me the setlist, so will put that one online later.. Including the few pics that I did make... I expect London to be better for pics, since then I will be in A2, row v... which is left center... xxx lydia almost forgot... We apparantly do have to wait for the release of John's 2nd solo album, since he is as I understand it, somebody who wants to work on his album from start to end... Prolly wanting to do everything himself.... lol And of course, he wants to go on a solo tour next year, after the JB tour is over.. so that should be march, april may playing mostly small gigs.. upto 100 people in cosy locations This might seem sad news, for it will take some time before we get to see him play live and solo in Europe, on the other hand, we can alll start saving up for a trip to any location he might be playing
