all the songs were recorded primarily in august/september '08 in london and new york city. continuing tweaks and nips and tucks occurred since then, and then mixed 5 songs for the album this past week. the rest should get done in spring. scheduling will be finalized in the coming month. here's a broad and very loose summary of the process of the 2nd album...
approx. 21 songs were chosen for consideration for the 2nd album, by john and his producer, at the beginning of recording based on demos new and old. 19 were preliminarily tracked in London, about 15 became worked up to full potential to make it over to new york. from there the songs were finished in nyc. in months since then john's been adding cello and other special bits and working with the producer to finalize a punch list for mixing. by the time the record is finished it is likely that only about 10-12 tunes.

Thank you soooo much for the information theafroshane! Arghhhhh! The waiting is unbearable !!!!! Would it be any chance to have it for the Valentine's day? Please, please, please, please, please ... I beg you, I can't wait!!! No "Miss You"...bummer. But then again we get a lot of new babies to enjoy. ;D I wonder how fast we can get it once he has finished. I can't wait...John, my birthday is March 18th...any chance of having it by then? ;D Wow...now that would be the best birthday present ever! Now you are probably thinking..."Oh crap...mark that day off the calendar...d-amn stalker"...LOL! Looks like we're all having the same thing on top of our wish-lists! ;D My birthday is in May and all I wish for is a copy of his new album!! But I'm afraid May will be still too early for its release, even for the downloadable version. Just tried to recap how it went with "Cosmos". Recording started in October 06, mixing was finished by the end of April, mastering was done around May 11th 07, album available for download in June 07, physical CD's were with John on July 12th and out for purchase in August 2007. That would make about 3 months later after the end of mixing sessions. As I take it, the mixing of the remaining 5 to 7 tracks of Album 2 has been scheduled for March (maybe April), so my guess would be that it's gonna be ready for download in June 09 at the earliest. Any suggestions on how to make it through until then without going completely insane are welcome!! P A T I E N C E is the word I suppose!!!

This is like a casino: bet for the best month lol My bet: June, as seen on my experience, he always get the same month for shows than Take That, so I bet John's second album will be released before June Hahahahaha Any bet for the title? As far as we know (thanks to afroshane), songs included are "Cold Coffee" (weheee! ;D), "Alexander & Annabel" (another weeheee!), "I Leave On Friday", "So Close" and "Footprints" (that title sounds a bit melancholic). Do you think he will name the album as one of the songs, as he did with Above The Cosmos, or he will choose whatever name?

I personally like an album title which is unique and not just a song title. But I have no idea what John thinks about that,

A song title as an album title looks unlikely at this point...

June would be great for an 'album-launch-boardie-gathering', don't you think??!! But no matter what month Mister Garrison decides to unleash his second solo album upon us, I already know it's gonna be the VERY BEST month of 2009!!! A song title as an album title looks unlikely at this point... Thanks for the info, theafroshane. Although I think "So Close" would make for a nice album title (whereas "Cold Coffee" probably wasn't quite so fitting.) I personally like an album title which is unique and not just a song title. But I have no idea what John thinks about that, As for "Above The Cosmos", maybe he had chosen the album title first and then named the track accordingly?? Just a thought... doesn't matter anyway since it's such a brilliant title, especially in combination with the artwork and the 'real place' and all the 'tales' that came with this certain location during the making of the record...

A song title as an album title looks unlikely at this point... Does it mean that the second album has title yet? ;D ;D ;D ;D Thanks again, theafroshane! Thank to you we have little clues about the new album. That's very appreciated while John keeps quiet for the moment.

No title for the album yet. The list of songs that will eventually make up John's second solo album has not been finalized as many songs are still being produced.
Unlike 'cosmos' this album's concept isn't completely defined.
John had a long list of songs, new and old that were chosen and everything is being produced and nurtured and as mixing is completed a vibe is emerging and when the final track list starts present itself. It will lend itself to a title for the album.
