I just sent a message to a popular television programm here, that is on from monday till friday and always has a band or singer to play some music. Told them John is the bass-player of JB and will release his 2nd album soon... Hopefully they will check the weblink I gave them and invite them for the show

Great idea, loraline! Hope you'll get a (positive) reply!! ;D ;D Who's in for a new radio-station-hassling-campaign to attract some attention for the new album? ;D I'm in the mood for that right now... Of course, count me in. Have to admit that I've been a little lazy lately as far as 'hassling' radio stations goes. This needs to be changed!! I know, it's none of my business, but I'd love to see at least a hint regarding the forthcoming album on the opening page of this web-site, so that those who do not visit the message-board would know (unless he wants the record to come as a complete surprise... best kept secret and all that.. )

I saw this thread on John's facebook group page yesterday and also your replies. I too would love to help and spread the word of the new record, but since I'm not familiar with facebook, it wouldn't make much sense if I offered my help at this point (maybe something on MySpace could be done in addition to the facebook thing!?!?) What I don't understand, how is it possible that such a facebook "page" and its related announcements/updates would reach millions of people (that's at least how I take it by reading your replies)? Don't you have to have some sort of connection to people first, a community of friends/members or something like that to get the information out to everyone??? I guess it's a stupid question, but I really would like to know how it works actually. Maybe someone can explain??? (I apologize if it's not appropriate to discuss this here on the messageboard. Then please delete.)

Then please delete.) In having a facebook fan page one has to first become a fan then they can invite their friends to join also, you can do that with the page he currently has but the one major difference between the two types of pages is the notifications you receive from facebook if there are announcements that the artist would like to send out to their fans. With the current page you do not get any notice if John posts or announces something. By having the fan page he would be able to get the message out in mass quantities through the update feature the fan page offers. Also, is using facebook whenever a facebook user does anything on facebook, whether that be on their own page or on another persons page then all their friends will get notice of that on the "news feed" section and it will also appear on that users "wall"...so if I were to become a fan of a certain artist my friends will see that instantly through the "news feed" page as well as if they read my personal "wall"...thus reaching millions. If all 139 members of the group page join the fan page, and let's say each one of those members has on average 100 friends...then over 13,900 people will get notice about their interest in John...then if you get some of those friends to join then their friends see that...creating an effect that has the potential to increase his fan base exponentially. And, from a marketing standpoint, there is no better way to reach so many people at absolutely NO financial cost. There are a few other differences but the notification to fans is the biggest one and would be worth considering in his decision to switch from the "group" to the "fan" page. I know that a lot of people still use MySpace but here in the states a lot of people are moving from MySpace to facebook or even Twitter. Like I had said on the reply on facebook, one has to keep up with technology and the movement to a mobile environment and any one who needs to advertise a product, whether that be an actual tangible product or an intangible product, needs to keep up with today's marketing trends. And right now that trend is to advertise in social networking sites. If you go back to that discussion thread on facebook I have copied and pasted the official facebook description comparing the two types of pages. I hope I explained that so you could understand. Business profiling and marketing trends are kind of a passion of mine...that's why I have two business degrees and working on my third...and waiting ever so patiently for Donald Trump to offer me a job

THANK YOU very much, kerpea, for explaining this, and also for posting the official facebook description on John's group page. Sounds interesting and I think now I see how it works actually. I have to agree, this kind of "snowball --> avalanche" principle really seems a promising way to reach many, many people and spread the word of the forthcoming album, and also to make announcements like tour-dates, download offers etc. And since it can be done at no financial cost, I too think it's absolutely worth giving it a go. That's what I find a bit confusing, still: On the one hand, there's the chance to reach thousands or even millions of people, but on the other hand, in a kind of reverse conclusion, if ALL friends will get notice of EVERYTHING EVERY user/member of a certain community does on facebook that sounds like tons of information floating around. Probably to such an extent that it seems hard if not impossible to keep up with, since it would appear that a lot of time is needed to read all these notifications and follow the threads on a regular basis. But then again, maybe that's just the "internet way of life" in this day and age, and I'm just hopelessly behind the times as far as "the movement to a mobile environment" goes. I guess I really need to create a facebook account to find out myself... (for some strange reason I refused to do so all the time, might be the name "Facebook", which I don't really like as I think it sounds a bit like a synonym for "Rogues' Gallery" ) Keri - As for Mister Trump... Do you want me to make a plea??... He should seriously consider calling you!! ;D .. and maybe there'll even be a job for me, I'm a lawyer, so screwing people on a day to day basis is my bread and butter (just kidding, of course, I'm trying my hardest not to...

Jade...I think we should both apply to be on good 'ole Mister Trump's show...have you seen The Apprentice? I think we are vicious enough to keep up with those big dogs...LOL! ;D
To be honest, my family has urged me to do it...but I am not a big fan of splashing my personal or business affairs all over the media!

well I read this without paying a lot of attention, but if you make a page or a fan page or something, send me an message with the URL, because I found John Garrison's facebook group, one of these last days. And I didn¡t know about it. Maybe you have to open too a Twitter page, I don't know why, but all the bands are making one nowadays. I think it's a nightmare, a page for Myspace, another for facebook, another for Twitter, but.. who knows.

Doesn't he have a twitter page? I've just checked it out, and yes,he does! I have to say that with this forum and myspace and facebook, I have enough. And his website too. But I suppose it's good for him..twitter too. Many sites to spread the word...then the info... I don't know why but now all the artists are in Twitter. Fisrtly it was Myspace, then Facebook, now Twitter.... I don't understand the purpose of Twitter, I don't have to know what the rest of people are doing each moment. It's like the updates in MySpace, finally I was fed up with them, and I don't read any more. As I say..just for spreading the word... Other things... with care. blog.filter-mag.com/filter/2009/04/why-twitter.html
