What do you prefer when listening to music - headphones or speakers?

Great question, Jade. I don't know what he prefers, but I know I would pay money to see him walking down the streets of London carrying his old "jam box," as we americans call it, over his shoulder. Have you seen that pic of it on his Myspace? It makes me smile every time. viewmorepics.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=viewImage&friendID=82484211&albumID=1063702&imageID=8468879John is obviously a LOT older than I am because they had actually invented the cassette tape deck when I bought my first radio... LOL! Just kidding, John! I'm assuming they just didn't have them in England or you must have been about one when you got this one??!!

LOL! Just kidding, John! I'm assuming they just didn't have them in England or you must have been about one when you got this one??!! Oh yes, I've seen it, this thing is amazing. I too wouldn't mind seeing him walking down the streets of London carrying it. ... yesterday's papers telling yesterday's news... and maybe yesterday's radios do as well... who knows... Here's some more info on the "jam box": Does your old radio that was featured on 'Cosmos' and the Budapest albums still exist and is it going to make an 'appearance' on the next album as well? yes the radio still exists. It was given to me by my Uncle who had it for 50 years. It appears very subtly on "Cold Coffee"************************************************** Oh, before I forget, I've another question: I really like the Johnny Vic remix of "Clock Face". COOOOOL SOUND!!! Did you mix this one yourself or is it someone else's work?

I know my question is a request lost in despair.... any chance of you carrying around copies of 'Departures' at the Water Rat in London? Or perhaps just a sampler??? Mark said he would be at the Water Rat too, so that would be a great opportunity to get him to sign (a sampler of) Departures as well...... And if TAS is there too, he could sign the (sampler-) cd too... Just hinting..... lol

What's the song that you think it's the worst you wrote on your career? About the new pics on the main page of your website and on the Assembly website, are they from a new photo session?

Don't know if these questions has been already asked... anyway ! Are you under stress before getting up on stage ? Probably it's different worries when you're there as a musician rather than when you're the "star"... And if the answer to my first question is Yes, do you have or do you do something special to bring some "good luck"on you?

Which song on "Departures" took you the longest to write? And which song on the new record took you the least amount of time?
Did you imagine "Happy Hour" exactly and entirely the way it appears on "Cosmos" when you wrote it, or did some of the ideas, specifically those at the end of the song, come later while recording or mixing it?

I'm curious about the end in Happy Hour too Where did you record that? Looks like the sound of a pub or something like that. Is Marisela who sings the high notes? How was the Assembly gig for you? I've found this about that: " never heard John Garrison before tonight but he's like a local Matt Bellamy which can only be a good thing, top notch." Do you agree about local Matt Bellamy line? Do you like to be compared with successful bands as Muse "at first sight"? Tom and Mark are going to be in NYC shows as well? And a question I wanted to make long time ago, although it doesn't have anything to do with you: what happened with Broken Dolls? Did they split up, and Neil moved to Echo Empire? (I didn't know he is in Echo Empire until now)

Hi John, so I hear you were learning new instruments... surprises me a bit as you're already playing so many instruments so splendidly. Question: Which instruments are you currently learning to play??? Bye Bye J. xx There is a lot of new instruments on the record that I haven't played before. Xylophone, Harpsichord, baritone guitar, lots of weird percussion, my knees...!!! seriously, one track features Tom and I slapping our knees What happenned with knees sound? Is it on any Departures song?

Hi John, thanks for the fantastic show on Monday in Leamington Spa. Francis and I had a great time, and it was really fab to finally meet you. Thanks for taking the time to give us autographs and a photo (despite the problems with the camera! lol). Someone has posted my message from the Blunty board here, so I had better confess that we did gatecrash your afterparty! (but you probably guessed that anyway!). I have one question which I wish I had asked you. What inspired you to write the songs Public Apology and Walking on Broadway? Good luck with the show tonight, and with your album, can't wait for it's release! Take care, Annmarie x

John's Bird (or missalabama as you are known here!), you have absolutely nothing to be sorry about! It's very sweet of you to share my story - I would have anyway, and as I said, I am sure that John was well aware that we had 'found' our way into the aftershow party, as I'm sure a few others did too!

I refreshed my memory and read again old John's newsletter from 22nd Nov 2007 (phew...): I had a great time at Coventry legendary journalist Pete Chambers's house in Coventry last week too. Lovely fella and it's great to chat music and Coventry life to someone so passionate. The resulting article will be published soon so keep a look out.
I also received a DVD of my performance at The Bedford in London the other day Thanks a lot George and I will post it up on You Tube as soon as I figure out how to make it an uploadable file What happened with those things? (if you still have them ) Is it the same place on these pics? (see wall behind):
