Hi John, Upon finally hearing the full album version of "2nd for the 1st time," I could not help but immediately thinking that this song could perhaps be John's answer to Jim Croce's "New York's not my home" and that you were trying to say, "Hey, Jim, NY's not so bad." Would you say that is true at all? I have been listening to them back to back, Jim's first and then yours. I couldn't help but hear a bit of him in your work. I think it's the quiet, gentle, delicate and understated nature of both his songs and yours. Do you see this at all? Sorry for comparisons, I know artists generally don't like it. We fans just can't help it sometimes. And for me at least the Croce comparison is a definite compliment... One of my all-time favorites! Thanks, Missy XOXO

Hi John, thought I'd ask you this: Since the Massive Attack song isn't quite so new anymore, should we assume there's a new baby in the making? As for Westlife's cover of Daughtry's "What About Now", I wonder if this is the version that features you on bass? www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaRxUieZFqc&channel=westlifeWho would have thought it comes the day where I'm seriously considering adding a Westlife record to my music collection (which is a mess, I know... ;D). ?? ?? ??THANK YOU!

Hi John, thought I'd ask you this: Since the Massive Attack song isn't quite so new anymore, should we assume there's a new baby in the making? I was thinking the same thing, Jade! I hope it's a new Garrison baby! As for Westlife's cover of Daughtry's "What About Now", I wonder if this is the version that features you on bass? www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaRxUieZFqc&channel=westlifeWho would have thought it comes the day where I'm seriously considering adding a Westlife record to my music collection (which is a mess, I know... ;D). LOL! OK, I had no idea who Westlife even was! I know what you mean, Jade. I never thought I would have Natalie Imbruglia in my playlist, watch X Factor or listen to Leona Lewis... Much less watch The Trampdashians (opps I mean Kardashians) ... but anything for John, right? ;D JOHN, WHAT are you doing to me? Kidding! Of course, 2 years ago, no one who knows me would have bet that I would ever go to a Blunty concert either... I'm so glad decided to go see what all the fuss was about cuz I wouldn't have discovered John or be here now! LOL! HMMM! CURIOUS! Speaking of ideas, I have an idea that I've been thinking about for a while... OK, I tend to I think that John will sell enough Departures copies to make the third album but I have an idea for him to make tons of money so that he won't have to worry about it. I think he could be a hand model! SERIOUSLY! NO JOKE! See what I mean: www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEnXg5XJrdENICE HANDS! Of course, somehow I can't picture John giving himself manicures and worrying about hurting his hands! (LOL @ minutes 0:00-146 & 3:23- 5:00) www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfpJHVuAgi8&feature=PlayList&p=4162C43273D1E340&index=8&playnext=2&playnext_from=PL(ROFL @ 0:00- 2:10) www.youtube.com/watch?v=j60qwxqLyz8&feature=PlayList&p=4162C43273D1E340&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=7www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQl_CwIoAw4P.S. I think I my play count on this version of "So Close" is about 500 of the 1080 views! I am so addicted to this song!

Hi John, Questions, Questions, Questions: Is this a recent picture, and did you work with James on his third album? On which song did you use the percussion track, put on from a hotel room in Moscow? And which songs came to life whilst working in your bunk on the tourbus? What was the nicest thing ever written about you? And the rudest? Considering that there will (hopefully) be a few gigs or even a tour coming up in 2010, I think a seperate board for shows/live performances would be a good thing. I like it nice and tidy , and it's all a bit messed up at the moment, some threads in the "General" section, some in "Departures". Do you think you could set up a "LIVE" section? Thanks in advance!

Hi John,
I see that you are coming to Toronto in March. Is there any chance that you give a concert in Montreal? Please, think about it. You know that Montreal is a very welcoming city for musicians and artists. We have the reputation to be a nice crowd here. Just remember James at the Bell Center in November 2008. We have plenty of nice venues for you as well.
And I wish you a Happy Birthday, just a little bit late. xx

Hi John! Why does Natalie's drummer play in a crystal box? Thanks! ;D Hi everyone. Been a while I know. Got a bit of time on my hands so here goes Jerry plays behind a screen because Natalie has a quiet voice and Jerry plays very loud. The drum sound would come down the microphone if there was no screen and that wpould ruin the sound coming out the speekers

This is a nice little sketch... Do you draw? Love the cover of Departures. What a great picture. That is a beautiful building... Those tiles are incredibly lovely. They almost look like turn-of-the-centuty subway tiles... Is that a historic building in old London? P.S. Sorry again for my long-winded, random, stream of consciousness in the "Ask John a Question" thread!!! Yes I did draw the sketch The cover for Departures was taken by Julian in an old Victorian pub in Tooting Bec London. We did it quickly and discreetly as we didn't have permission from the pub owner.
