hugs to you Jenny for your guinea pig
I feel lucky I still have my silly rabbit with me ) Took him to the vet some time ago, for he didnt eat that much. He got dental treatment, but that wasnt enough.. his front teeth got removed, for they weren't growing right.
Now he has straight teeth again, and is finally gaining some weight, but he had me worried for a few days...

Some good news and some bad news: The baby bird I was feeding was released on July 4th! A symbolic Independence Day Bird releasing Ceremony was held!! ;D However, a snake got into my fish pond and seems to have eaten all the fish eggs and all but one tadpole!! But that's ok because it's the cycle of life.............even a snake has to eat.......right?!

good to know the bird is big enough now to stand on his own two feet And yes, the cycle of life doesnt mean everybody gets to live forever... so the fish eggs are gone, but the snake will prolly survive the day

Ok there is actually one in the room next to mine as my brother has one... but the last time my brother bought two mice the snake was more afraid of the two of them than the other way around... very funny... I then ended up having two mice to take care of for a few weeks...

Ya, I didn't think about taking a picture until it was too late! Sorry! I'm pretty sure it was a Grackle. I have pics of my fish and horses up on Facebook though, if anyone is interested. I'd post then here, but I don't know how!! I'm in the middle of the United States, we have lots of snakes here! I REALLY don't like snakes!!!!!!! But this was only a garter snake............not poisonous.............good thing since it bit my husband when he was removing it from our pond!! That's funny Kati about your brother's snake being afraid of the mice! Maybe he was too small for mice............maybe crickets would be more his speed!!! ;D Although I don't really agree with keeping snakes as pets...........just my opinion.............just heard of another case of a two year old child who was squeezed to death in the night because his parents' pet python got out of it's cage! Now they are being held on charges of Child Endangerment, Accessory to murder........and a few others that I can't remember, all the while insisting that the snake was a member of the family, loved by all!! I bet the innocent child doesn't love that snake too much right now!!! Snakes that don't squeeze to death or aren't poisonous are ok, but all others aren't good choices for pets!! ..................Just venting........Sorry! People always get angry with me when I state this opinion, hope I didn't offend anyone this time!!

rofl @ Devlin..
"Snakes that don't squeeze to death or aren't poisonous are ok, but all others aren't good choices for pets!! .................."
You do know snakes have 2 options for diner?? either they sqeeuze their food to death or they poison their food.. no other option... ;D
and as for the 2-years old... I can imagine how you feel and the child didn't have to die if the owner had taken good care of his snake.. But it is to me as it is with all things that kill... It takes a human hand to make it possible for somebody to get killed by anything other than age or illness
So should you look at the animal for following it's nature or should you look at the human hand, that didnt close the cage as should have been done?
I tend to look at the human hand, for the animal didnt choose his spot, his cage nor his condition and his apparent lack of food.... For as it goes, animals only kill when in need of food or when in need of safety....

I have very sad news. Our dog, Molly, somehow got out of our backyard Wednesday evening. We have frantically searched for her with no luck. We are praying that someone has taken her in and will love her as much as we did. We have posted Reward signs up everywhere we could think of and called all the animal shelters in the area. We are devastated at the thought of not having our precious Molly anymore and how difficult it will be to move on. We are blessed that she spent her first five years with us and she made us very happy and we know that she knows we love her very much. Please pray that someone will see our sign and return her home safely.

Although I don't really agree with keeping snakes as pets........... Me neither I'm really happy about the fact that I'm moving out in a year and I do no longer have to live next to a snake... My brother's snake is still very small and according to him the snake won't get much bigger so it's not one of those 5m long monsters... still I prefer a dog that barks every now and then and that's about it... I don't really like the thought of lying in bed waking up and looking in the eyes of a snake... erk... I do understand what you're saying relating to accidents that happen to small children... it's just not necessary that innocent children die like that but as Lydia said it's usually the parents fault and not the snakes...

AWWWW! Kerpea, I'm so sorry about your dog! I hope you find her! She is so cute!
For me, dogs, cats and horses are the only animals I like to have contact with...I don't like wild animals as pets because while they can seem harmless they can turn on a moment's notice... particularly monkeys, tigers and snakes! I really hate snakes!!!! I think it's unfair to a wild animal for a human to try to domesticate it and when children are involved, it becomes very dangerous. There is a big case in the states about a woman who had a chimpanzee that attacked and almost killed her neighbor. The neighbor lost her hands and her face is disfigured very badly. The crazy thing was that the owner of the chimp was surprised that the chimp did that. She treated the chimp like a human. She dressed it up in clothes and fed it loster... Whatever happened to dogs as pets??? (GETS OFF SOAP BOX NOW! I HOPE I DIDN'T OFFEND ANYONE! SORRY IF I DID!!!)

I'm so SORRY, Girls, for my ranting... Sometimes I get a little crazy when it comes to animals... Maybe I should avoid this thread in the future!!!
I'm glad the bird was released, Kati. Cute story!
