I have to agree, there are some really great ones nominated... there's hope after all. My fav album in 2008 is defo "In Rainbows" by Radiohead, would be great if they won a Grammy. Thanks for posting the link, kerpea! Quite an interesting read, not least because of the related articles, such as: - Joe Satriani may have a case against Coldplay www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28353868/or - Which was your favorite song that did not get radio play in 2008 ) www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28422492/Quote: "How do you make Feist's "My Moon My Man" even sexier? For one thing, you loosen up the piano and bring the bass (which, as everybody knows, is the sexiest of all instruments) front and center, thus bypassing all the normal channels and plugging the the song directly into your nervous system." - Aww, bass can be very sexy I think, heavily depends on the bass player though! or - Smashed Cobain guitar sells for $100,000 www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28371867/

Since I'm also a big fan of Tom McRae I thought I'd leave some words about him here. Same as John, he's such an outstanding and much underrated artist who clearly doesn't make albums just for the sake of it but because he has something to say - both musically and lyrically. I've got all his albums and amongst many, many great songs I absolutely like this one: "End Of The World News (Dose Me UP)", live in Leeds 2007 de.youtube.com/watch?v=bzgNdAmW9c0I love the way how he introduces the song and connects with people. Very effective (and spontaneous ) audience participation starting at 3:44 I think. If I were a musician, this would be pretty much my idea of success (who needs a Brit-Award anyway?..) - no matter if it's only a handful or a 'land' full of people singing along!!! Other favourites of mine: "Deliver Me" de.youtube.com/watch?v=ffBrAVd0PF0"You Only Disappear" de.youtube.com/watch?v=3-o9dZfVIto&feature=related"Karaoke Soul" de.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4iOVysdfvw&feature=related

I've been listening those videos (because I was reading mails), they're great songs, my favourite is Deliver Me, although is hard to choose between that one and You Only Disappear. I like them both. Jade, do you know Damien Rice? Do you hear something of him? I think you'd like his music too Just an opinion

Jade, do you know Damien Rice? Do you hear something of him? For two songs he was accompanied by David Gray, which was kind of special. Amazing how good they sounded on just acoustic, given it was such a huge venue). There are a lot of Rice-songs I really like, above all "9 Crimes". It's such a sad song and so is the video, great but sad!!

I DO love 9 Crimes, one of best duets I've ever heard. Set The Fire To The Third Bar, by Snow Patrol and Martha Wainwright, is a great ballad and great duet too.
Sad songs are always the better ones ;D And Damien Rice is such an excellent singer, their songs relax me a lot.
