Never seen this movie. Is there some sort of connection between the song and the film? Just wondering...

Never seen this movie. Is there some sort of connection between the song and the film? Just wondering... well... at first sight not... It's a film about a BIG monster who destroys Manhattan and eat people... But the story starts with the main character who's in love with a girl but he doesn't tell her because he's moving to Japan... The same night the monster attacks the city and the guy runs to save her. The end of the film made me think about Alexander and Annabelle a lot.

Infra-Red, Placebo Great choice Lucy! Do you like Placebo? Well I do! I think there's an amazing energy in most any of their tunes and I for one really like Brian Molko's unmistakeable voice. Came across this band when I heard "Every You, Every Me" in the movie "Cruel Intentions" (IMO, (good) movies are by far the best way to get ones music out to as many people as possible). "Song to say Goodbye" is a great one too. Though I think their cover of the Pixies' "Where Is My Mind" sucks. I definitely prefer the one James Blunt did... and the original obviously. Listening to "Cry Me a River" - Justin Timberlake - right now.

I found that Placebo song in a remix cd I made a couple of years ago I think. Stephanie Meyer, Twilight saga writer (and the bigger Muse fan I've ever seen), wrote a list of songs that inspired her while writing the 4 books (one of them, Infra-Red), and I took all those songs and put them in 4 different cd's (in part because there are lots of Muse songs I liek and TRAVIS! ;D;D ). I knew about Placebo with Cruel Intentions soundtrack as well!!! I love it, and the film too ;D And I spent my stay in Angoulême listening everyday Song To Say Goodbye, so that song brings me so many memories! But that's all I know of Placebo in fact LOL Any suggestion to hear? Listening Signal Fire, by Snow Patrol

Changing the subject: Today I was in a record store where they played Rod Stewart, performing Bonnie Tyler's "It's a Heartache". Made me giggle a little as I inevitably had to think of this review (AbsolutePunk it was, I believe) where they had likened John to good old Rod, and I could already see a headline popping up "John Garrison reportedly spent 1,400 Dollars on cosmetic items" or something to that effect. ;D But seriously, nothing against Mr Stewart of course (my mum owns all of his Great American Songbook CD's ) but how can someone possibly compare the two? Personally, I don't see a resemblance in any way, completely different styles (even in the 'Faces' days), completely different voices, completely different looks (Phew!). Even though I know fine well - and totally understand - that with most any artist every kind of comparison seems worse than unnecessary, I have to admit that listening to John's songs at times I can't help but compare his vocals/style, too. There are some songs/demos in which I think he sounds a lot like Thom Yorke, others where he reminds me pretty much of Mark Hollis or even Elliott Smith. I never thought of Rod Stewart, though - never ever. Anyway, 99% of John's music it sounds 100% John - There's no 'Comparrison' to a 'Garrison' - Period.

I couldn't agree more! NO comparison!!!!! There's NO other Johnny Gee! ;D

I spent two weeks or so without visiting Nerina's website and she released a new song? Where, how, why? And how much? ;D LOL I found that Placebo song in a remix cd I made a couple of years ago I think. Stephanie Meyer, Twilight saga writer (and the bigger Muse fan I've ever seen), wrote a list of songs that inspired her while writing the 4 books (one of them, Infra-Red), and I took all those songs and put them in 4 different cd's (in part because there are lots of Muse songs I like and TRAVIS! ;D;D ). Thanks, Lucy, for the info. I didn't know Miss Meyer was such a big Muse fan, interesting stuff. I tried to google the list but didn't find it. Here you have: stepheniemeyer.com/twilight_playlist.htmlstepheniemeyer.com/nm_playlist.htmlstepheniemeyer.com/ecl_playlist.htmlstepheniemeyer.com/bd_playlist.html(every link for every book. Even now we have a playlist for the never released Midnight Sun book ) Last time I was in a Twilight website was two years ago or so, when nobody knew about sparkling vampires (as if this all the important thing in the book!), and now, searching the playlists, I noticed how a bit of promo, success and money can change everything... When Stephenie Meyer (I wrote her name wrongly yesterday, sorry) was not so famous and there was not such a big fame and commercial purposes about her books, fans drove crazy in the search of these songs, and now you even have a player to listen to them.... Anyway, I think she has a great taste on music. And I've just found that The Host has a second part... Interesting ;D Commercial or not, I always recommend to read the Twilight saga (more than watching the movies, INDEED), or The Host if you don't feel like reading dramatic teen love stories.... The Host is more for adults. Twilight saga teen part ends before last book, but you have to read all previous ones, and I know that can be so... Exasperating... More when you think that Bella (main character and who tells you the story) is sooooooooooooooooo stupid LOL I knew about Placebo with Cruel Intentions soundtrack as well!!! I love it, and the film too ;D And I spent my stay in Angoulême listening everyday Song To Say Goodbye, so that song brings me so many memories! But that's all I know of Placebo in fact LOL Any suggestion to hear? What did you do in Angoulême? That's quite a beautiful place. Were you there on Vacation (or on a pilgrimage)? It's more than beautiful, I loved it and I hope to come back someday! It was like... Luck? I was studying for secretary and my French teacher advised me to make the test for a grant. That was my only French course, so you can imagine how French I knew at that time LOL But I passed the test (don't know how) and the grant was for a stay in Angoulême for a month, working in a baby store (what more could I ask for? ;D ). I loved the experience, to learn the language (nobody spoke Spanish), the job was awesome, all the people at the store and in the city were so friendly and kind, and what about the amazing, splendid and beautiful landscape, typical of a French one? ;D ;D ;D Listening Before I Fall Apart, last night I dreamt about this song and the pic of Budapest that John posted on his blog

Lucy Nerina now plays live from her living room every Monday at 9pm (GMT) for a 1 hour show... for the next few weeks. The show is then uploaded onto youtube. Here's the link for "All bets are off" www.youtube.com/watch?v=tB7H_Hl6sqABy the way the may request songs, her own songs as well as cover versions! Ah, working abroad seems to be a very nice experience! I have never been to Angoulême, but I do like France in general. By now I regret not having done that after school instead of going straight to university. I will have to do a traineeship at some point though, I just have not decided what and where.

Anyway, I think she has a great taste on music. And I've just found that The Host has a second part... Interesting ;D Thanks Lucy for the links. She's got great taste in music, indeed! It's more than beautiful, I loved it and I hope to come back someday! It was like... Luck? I was studying for secretary and my French teacher advised me to make the test for a grant. What a great experience. Wishing you the best of luck for your plans (new job and all!). Ah, working abroad seems to be a very nice experience! I have never been to Angoulême, but I do like France in general. By now I regret not having done that after school instead of going straight to university. I will have to do a traineeship at some point though, I just have not decided what and where. A traineeship plus the opportunity to leave Germany for a while sounds good. Can you go to anywhere you want? I did it the same way, going straight to University after I had finished school, and still regret not having done some extensive traveling/working abroad in between. You'll never really do again once you have a proper job... at least I didn't. Listening to the elder Garrison babies right now... the pretty ones such as "High On Getting By" as well as the naughtier ones like "Deaf Eyes". They're all loved... always will be.
