HAHAHA! Yes I am old... I still call them records and I still buy them too. Am I the only one who does? I guess the kids get all their music from illegal downloads... That idea just makes me feel too gulty. I still feel bad about my used copy of "Head Towards the Dawn." I love music stores! I cried when tower records closed in Miami! I remember getting my first record like it was yesterday... 1981, I was seven, my Dad took me with him to the mall and bought me a 45 of Kim Carnes, "Bette Davis Eyes" with B-Side "Miss You tonight." ROFL! I still love buying records/cds and still have that Kim Carnes record and my old record player! Anyway, sorry for rambling as usual! Thanks for making me laugh at myself (in a good way), Matthew, and I agree, money should not be a reason for making records (or architecture or food)! Hence: Vanilla Ice and chain restaurants! LOL! I guess this applies to lots of things!
Another NYC question: I am still surprised that they haven't begun rebuilding on ground zero. The plans were finished ages ago by Daniel Libeskind but then for whatever reason (I don't know) they decided not to build it. What do the folks up there seem to think? Was it an issue of bad reception of the plan or political reasons? Do people in NYC seem to want the site to be rebuilt?

Good to hear they finally started! Can't wait to see it starting to come out of the ground! It is an interesting plan, though I'm not sure that's the one I would have picked in the competition... Libeskind is an interesting architect... A little too deconstructivist for my taste but alway interesting... Never dull to say the least.

Hey Theafroshane, Thank you! Sorry again for getting sidetracked to other discussions in the Theafroshane thread!
Did you always want to be a producer? Are there any special artists that are your favorites that you would love to work with?

yes always wanted to do this since i can remember. So, then you've never had the inevitable 'pilot/fireworker' dream when you were little? But seriously, I'm glad you decided to become a producer... the man, the music, the magic... would have been a shame if you hadn't entered this profession. would love to work with or just observe mccartney, radiohead, anything jack white does, muse, archive, tom petty, mgmt, empire of the sun, there's many... You really like McCartney, don't you? (not that hard to see why.. ) Now that's a great list and I'd love to hear the results of these collaborations should they become a reality one day... next Muse album in particular. Interesting that you mentioned Jack White. I've just seen the film/documentary "It Might Get Loud" as it's in cinemas here right now. I've been expecting some sort of 'father (The Edge), son (White) and holy ghost (Page)' story and was really curious as to how Mister White would fit in with the 'legends'. To sum it up, actually I found the White-bits to be the most interesting, most inspiring and most entertaining parts of the whole film - great guy and what a brilliant guitarist (by no means less amazing than the other two... just my opinion). Have you seen this docu yet, and if not, would you? Do you like going to the movies or are you usually too busy to do so? What's your favorite film... actor... actress?

dunno what my favorite movie is... tough one... What about favorite movie soundtrack? Would that one have been easier to tell? Not really, I suppose... For me I guess it's a tie between "A Hard Day's Night", "Purple Rain" and "Once Upon a Time in the West". As for the latter, it was a nice surprise to hear a snippet of that one at the 'secret' Muse show I've been to earlier this month. www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJ-HvRG6Vkw&feature=relatedSorry, back to topic: Thank you so much for always taking the time to reply, really appreciated!

Would be wonderful to celebrate the new album with a concert in London where we started the album. H iMatt, Without being too optimistic, I hope that by the end of Nov 9th in London I'll be the proud owner of a physical copy of the "Departures" album, which I'd love to have signed by its producer. What are the odds on him being there? Hope all is well at your end and that we didn't scare you off. Miss you, Matthew... Jade xx

I hope you get that copy of Departures signed by prodcer, Matt Shane, Jade!!!
Hey Afroshane, speaking of Indiana, there were some folks on my flight from Athens, Greece to NYC today who were wearing Univrsity of Indiana T-Shirts... What are the odds of that? I had to think of you, as you are the only person from Indiana I know... Well, I don't really know you, of course... Anyway, I just thought that was a funny coincidence... small world kind of thing.
