I think Dave Cooley is going to master it. He mastered Yusuke's other band's (leyode) album.

Glad you're still around while many of the regulars seem to have switched to 'guest'-mode. It's quiet in here, a little spooky somehow... on days like this I miss New York, they have 'Y' in them...

While in a record store a couple of days ago, actually on Trip Hop mission to Heligoland, I came across FOTC's latest album on Vinyl which seemed to be in need of a new home. And even though I have the CD (which I really love as it's brill - not least because of your (and Mr Petralia's) faultless engineering) - I couldn't resist and bought this one too. Since I seem to recall that Yusuke is also thinking about pressing Vinyl and it was you who mixed the Hamacide record, I was wondering if the fact that an album is also destined for vinyl does affect the mixing process in any way? Or is everything to do with the format completely down to mastering?

mixing doesn't really change for vinyl. mastering does tho, because vinyl is an analog medium there's no need to set a hard ceiling limit like in a digital master situation. that's what make vinyl sound so much more open and dynamic. less compressed.

Thanks for the info. I'm a sucker for vinyl sound, it definitely is different. I hope no-one will ever make me choose between my collection of shoes and my collection of LP's - I couldn't let go of any of it. Sorry for always getting a little carried away with my posting - Was the last time, I promise...

I hear you're at SXSW this year, mixing Dan Black. That's pretty amazing! Hard work but at the same time crazy fun I suppose.
Can't you come to Berlin too, mixing Post War Years at the MELT! festival in July?
