Hi Matthew,
I just wanted to say great work on Departures... I'm thinking another grammy for you and a first for John!!!!! JUST LOVELY! It is one of the most beautiful albums I have ever heard! I definitely second that!! Big thanks from me too! I'm listening to nothing but DEPARTURES for well over one week now, loving it more and more with each listen (if that is at all possible) - utterly brilliant! Hey, also congrats on the launch of Eleven Audio Design and good luck with your company. New babies all around, eh?! Lots of love Jade XOXO

H iMatt,
Just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed reading the SonicScoop interview "On the road with Flight of the Conchords". This touring thing sounds like a lot of hard work but at the same time like a tremendous amount of fun.
Aww, why do I live on this side of the pond? Would have loved to see this!! Do you know if they have any shows or even a tour planned in the foreseeable future?
I've just ordered "I Told You I Was Freaky" - The songs I have been listening to so far were fantastic... and hilarious, exactly the kind of humor that speaks to me. Great sound as well, not only are these guys seriously funny but also genuinely brilliant musicians.
By the way, was nice meeting you virtually last night. Always makes me a little nervous when you're at the other end of the keyboard (must be your aura), not a bad feeling at all.
Keep throwing those tremolos, Matthew - lucky guitars... Love love love Jade xxx

There's rumors of an FOTC tour next spring... i hope they're true!!!
I don't think we met virtually last night. Hopefully someone wasn't posing as me.
What happened??? Now I'm curious. Let me know. I dunno what lucky guitars and throwing tremolos are...Hopefully someone wasn't messing with you or stealing my identity.
Please provide more details. Via PM if you don't wanna post on the forum. Thanks.

FOTC tour? That would be nice! UHHHH-OOOOOOOOHHH! Matt, do you have an impostor? Blunty has tons of impostors! Billy has a full-time job just getting rid of them on Twitter. I hope no one got your password and no one was messing with Jadie! Maybe it was just John. Maybe he's tired of having to be the invisible user... I didn't know what tremolos were either. I had to google it... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tremolo

There's rumors of an FOTC tour next spring... i hope they're true!!! Cool! I hope so too and that there will be an announcement on their website/MySpace sometime soon. Thanks. I'm sorry... I didn't mean to cause you so much confusion. You're right, in cyberspace one never really knows who is at the other end. Nothing actually happened, other than us being online at the same time. That's all, sorry if it came across as something else. All the rest was only my imagination (of which I'm sure you don't want to know the details). I was half asleep, hence, this stupid message. I think I could do without the 'Spell Check' button, instead I'd need one saying 'Reality Check'. Anyway, too late now to hit 'Reset'. "I promise I won't do again, one more chance..." Forgiven? ~J. xx

Hey Afroshane, This is totally random but I just saw an article on AOL Real estate about homes across the country that are for sale for only $1. The catch is that they are all historic and must be restored or in some cases moved. Anyway, I thought you might find it interesting that one of them is in South Bend, Indiana. I have never been there, so I thought I would ask you if you have been there and if you have seen this house? It is a rather charming fixer-upper, I think. Homes for a Dollar At Home in the Hoosier State Location: South Bend, Ind. Price: $1 How could you refuse this offer? The city of South Bend, Indiana wants to give this handsome circa-1851 Italianate farmhouse away to anyone willing to properly restore it. Aside from the boarded up windows (the boards are painted to look like real windows), the place is in pretty good shape, with a completely restored exterior, new roof, and all new HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. All you'll need to do is restore the gutted (but clean as can be) interior. The house, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located near downtown, in a neighborhood that's seeing quite a bit of investment these days. Call 574-289-1066, ext 223 for more information. realestate.aol.com/homes-for-sale/homes-for-a-dollar?pg=1

Funny thing: I just sutmbled across this live video from the tour! ROFL! Woo Hoo! Go, Afroshane! www.youtube.com/watch?v=DT4H8eUZ7Ao&feature=related"I feel lke a prize *****, no one mentions my casserole!" Has to be the funniest song lyric ever! I love how Jemaine delivers the line so utterly deadpan! Hilarious!

too many thingys on the dance floor brought the house down everytime. business time was great especially at the outdoor gigs because they'd call me onstage to play drums for some of those.
everynight was different. had a lot of different favorites.

Hey theafroshane,
THANKS! Sounds like a LOT of fun! Am a bit jealous! Hope you're staying warm up North! Question: How did y'all achieve what I would call "lint on the record needle" sound at the beginning of "I want you?"
Thanks,
Missy XOXO ;D

I think you're referring to little bit of harmonic distortion on the drum loop at the top of the song?
If so, we were in Sleeper in London and they had an old Rhythm Ace, which is an early analog drum machine maybe from the late 60s or 70s. We programmed a simple groove, which basically means setting a tempo and selecting a style, like Rock 1 or Bossa Nova 2. I thnk we used Rock II. Then I chopped up the loop into the bits we needed to make the actual pattern we want. This gave us a new stereo drum loop, next I ran one side of the stereo beat through some Distressors, which are a fairly popular and common compressor/limiter, and mashed the life out of them and the other side through a different compressor, an (i think it was an LA2A, which is an old 60s era tube limiter) with different settings, This gave the loop some odd distortion in spots but also gave it some movement and phasing left to right due to the different processing happening independently, which made it just odd enough to work for us.
Hope that answers your question.

I just realized you said "I Want You" and I did all that talking about "So Close" OOPS!
Not sure what sound you're characterizing as "Lint on the needle" please be more specific and I'll try and answer...
