…Puimisson France. No plastic boobs there. Just saggy, normal, real ones and thats just me...!!
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
AHHHH!!! AS if I needed yet another reason to LOVE John Garrison! Finally, a guy who doesn’t like fake boobs! YAY! That is so great to hear! Nice to know that there might be one or two out there in the world. I have always thought that if I were a guy, I would not like fake boobs. I have always been baffled by the whole phenomenon of the poor, plastic women who all look like Pamela Anderson, and even more so of the men who find that look attractive. When I lived in Miami, I would have put money on the fact that I was the only woman in the whole city with a real, normal, non-plastic chest (however tiny it may be ). I knew it was time for me “to get the fook out of” Miami, when I started to doubt myself and wonder if I needed a boob job too. I would definitely say that if John doesn’t like fake boobs, he would probably not like Miami, plastic woman capitol of the world!

Aside form his gentle, unassuming, sad, sweet, heartbreaking, and just plain gorgeous music that speaks to my soul, tugs at my heart and is on constant repeat on my iPod, what is even more endearing about John is his indifference to the industry and his stubborn insistence on, like Sinatra, “Doing it his way.” What I love about hearing John live is that it’s real. It’s not about fame, image or money; it’s just about the music. Going to a Garrison gig is like unexpected love at first sight, or if you don't believe in love at first sight, it's just like stumbling into your local bar on a random night and being suddenly struck by the happenstance of music so beautiful that it makes your heart ache at the lovely and unexpected serendipity… “And that’s just me!” Plus, he is just a really normal, nice guy, not a plastic, industry automaton... No big, Rock- Star ego with Garrison!
I was thinking about this topic of the music industry today too. There is a big hoopla going on here in the states over some video of some 7-year-old girls booty dancing in skimpy, bikini costumes to Beyoncee’s “Single Ladies.” www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoiMUOqKORY No one seems to mention the real crime though: the music, that is! Kidding, but seriously though, I mean no offense to Beyoncee. I actually think she has a great voice, but for me, she could use better songwriters. The “Single Ladies” song, however, is the fall guy for me in terms of the whole genre of pop/hip-hop and the sad state of the music industry today, which is more about fame and the bottom line than actual music. This video got me wondering if it’s just me or is it the industry? Do people actually like this sort of music and purchase it, but I am just out of touch? Have I just gotten crabby in my old age? Have I turned into my Dad? Am I just a pair of madras, golf shorts away from listening to AM radio, complaining about music today and asking whatever happened to bands like Zeppelin or The Eagles? Is it just a matter of musical taste? When did I start hating pop? My favorite music is 60’s/70’s rock and 90's alternative, but I was also a totally 80s kid, complete with Michael Jackson, Prince, Cindy Lauper, Culture Club, Duran Duran, Men at Work and The Cars vinyl. So why do I hate pop now? I just don’t know, but I have to say, I may be biased as I did many a dance to "Material Girl" as a little girl, but the 80's were better than today. I do know that every day, I wonder why incredibly talented musicians like John are so few-and-far-between today as compared with the 70’s. I don’t know, but I think one of the reasons that I love John’s music so much is that it feels as though it came out of that 70’s era and John, himself, is so real and not plastic. I wonder if that sort of real sound and image is just not in right now. I don’t know, but I must admit that I am completely baffled by the music industry. I still do not understand why Budapest was dropped from the label or why a major label hasn’t signed John. The world is mad, I think! So I guess this is my usual, long-winded way of saying, John, I’m glad you’re not “bling like that!” Please, don’t stop what you’re doing and maybe one day the industry will catch up with you! Thanks for being a diamond in the rough.

I have to admit; I really find Cannes not a nice place to be during the Film Festival. Lamborghini's and Ferrari's lose their wow factor when they are all you see. And its probably a good job it wasn't too hot or the masses of plastic boobs that were out on display would have caused a big mess were they to melt. I swear I saw the same woman every 5 seconds. They all look the same. …Puimisson France. No plastic boobs there. Just saggy, normal, real ones and thats just me...!!

As for the gig itself, well on paper it should have been amazing with guests such as Mischa Barton, Michelle Rodriguez, Ana Beatriz Barros, Ben Kingsley, but to be honest, I couldn't wait to get the fook out of there. Too many plastic people who, once they realised I was not famous and in a position to further their lives, walked past me like I was ruining their image. Horrible place. Not me at all. I guess I'll never be Bling like that. Sneaked away and met my old Brummy mate Matt Hoy who was singing in the hotel down the road and had a beer with him…;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
