It worked for me... and WOW! And I am crying! Darn, "Garrisoncito!" "Garrison makes you feel that he is singing to you, and you alone, and you are left wondering how he knows so much about you." - Popmuzik.es - Spain This is exactly how I feel with "So close!" Seriously, was he there the last night I saw my last boyfriend? How did some random English guy I've never met get in my head and put into music and words, better than I ever could, all that was left unsaid? Guess it's univeral and coincidental but it's rather unnerving and it makes me cry evry time I hear that song. "I don't care for anything outside... There is nothing that exists outside the room!" That's what I would have said.... But "There is so much that exists outside the room." That was the reality... Am now in the fetal position eating ice-cream! "Garrison makes you feel that he is singing to you, and you alone, and you are left wondering how he knows so much about you." Popmuzik.es - SpainIt's exactly that!Still listening to your songs each and every day. Your music reaches into my very soul - Makes for the most beautiful spirit-to-spirit connection imaginable. So Thank You! J. xx It's weird, but I feel the very same, Missy... and this goes not only for 'So Close' but for most any of his songs! The piano mix is even more haunting and lovely than the mix that is on My Space. I don't know how he did it but he really captured that feeling of when you know something is about to end... Very hollow.
Been listening to both versions over and over again since Monday. They're both great and I really like the sound of the guitar on the album version, but I have to agree, the piano mix is even more haunting and one can even more feel the emotion. Anyway, I just can't choose one over the other and fortunately I don't have to.

"So Close," "Questions," "Go" and "Happy Hour" are the ones that touch me the most, I think. I'm a sucker for the gut wrenching ones! There is something so touching and special about his music that my words could never do it justice. The best I can come up with is this: John Garrison's music gets under your skin immediately, it burrows its way to a crevasse deep in your heart that you never even knew you had, until it fills that empty space, and then the Garrison song becomes your song. To steal a line from "Sleepless in Seattle," listening to a John Garrison song for the first time "was like going home, only to no home I had never known before." I know this sounds really cheesy! Sorry! Been listening to both versions over and over again since Monday. They're both great and I really like the sound of the guitar on the album version, but I have to agree, the piano mix is even more haunting and one can even more feel the emotion. Anyway, I just can't choose one over the other and fortunately I don't have to. Yes, I love both too. For me, the piano mix is so raw while the album version is refined.

I just love piano versions in general. In my opinion singers often seem to put more emotion into the song when they sing an acoustic version.

To steal a line from "Sleepless in Seattle," listening to a John Garrison song for the first time "was like going home, only to no home I had never known before." I know this sounds really cheesy! Sorry! Aww, it doesn't sound cheesy at all (but maybe I'm the wrong person to ask.. ) My songs are like therapy to me. I use them to make sense of situations and to start the mending process or understand what just happened. All my songs are real experiences. It's a great technique. Everyone should give it a go. Usually they don't bring the pain back as they were written in a moment and i am very aware of that. What I mean is I don't always feel how I did when I wrote the song but it reminds me of how I felt at the time. Some situations require more than one song to figure out and to move on from. I always leave my song meanings slightly hidden so as others can pin their own experiences onto them. If I were to say word for word experiences in my life and my life only, they would be very difficult for anyone else to relate to unless you are me !!! I can safely say that I've never come across an artist who does it quite the way he does. Sometimes it scares me a bit that I can relate to so many of his songs. "Any Old Story", "Underline", "Visiting Time", "Goodbye", "Evade The Pain", "Questions", "Something Somewhere", "Clock Face", "Miss You"... and the list goes on. Other songs I love because they connect with me and move me as I can feel the emotion in them, even though I haven't been in a similar situation, such as "Go", "Happy Hour", "Once Around The Block", "Further Away", "Walking On Broadway" or "Dreamstealers" to name only a few. So, Mister 'sensitive Singer/Songwriter'... in case you still need some reassurance... you've got mine!

I've just noticed the new homepage of the website. The sleeve of the album? It's cool ;D ;D ;D ;D I like it It's simple (in good sense), direct, and with a touch of old vintage because of the B/W and the font. ;D ¡Mola! ;D

Yes! I like the cover... It's very much like the 60s singer-songwriter album covers.

I too like the cover of "Departures", it's really artistic. Though not blue, his eyes are extremely mesmerizing, pretty intense, feels a bit like being x-rayed. The more I look at the cover-pic the more I think I can live without the endless blue of his eyes... and the less without this album.
I think the picture at the top of his MySpace page (the one where he is sitting on the sidewalk), is also really beautiful, very "Departures"... somewhere between "What do I do now? Where do I go from here?" and "I await the inevitable that I cannot run from"... very "John" too..."stubborn, creative, on the outside looking in"... and drop dead gorgeous! Would be great if it were part of the artwork for the album too.

Black and white, sepia or color, he always looks great! I really need the album too. Can't wait to lay ears on those other 4 songs! I too love his MySpace profile pic. Drop Dead gorgeous, as always! Nice that now most of the info appears on the opening page (showdates, links etc.) and that there is music too. 'Wide screen' pic is also great and that you can switch from Mister Garrison to Mister Shane by cursor move... I just did that... left, right, left, right... to the sound of Let's Run... until it made me feel dizzy... 'the room was humming harder as the ceiling flew away'... verrry nice... And WOW, this has to be the most beautiful photograph of John ever... the 'ultimate shot' really... (plus it reminds me of my favorite place in London, the area around Smithfield Market) Thanks to Julian Hayr!
